PARENTS EVENING is going to be virtual next week. I took the decision as it's the safest way of carrying out the event - and it's also most popular with staff members. The focus of the 4 minute 40 seconds conversation will be around how children have settled into their new class and what their focus for reading, writing and maths will be over the year. This is also the time to mention whether or not their child will recieve additional intervention over the year...i.e. those working below ARE at the end of last year.
FROM EDIT TEAM------>RANSOMWARE ATTACKS and data breaches are again on the increase. The more recent issues that we’ve seen regarding such incidents have mainly been down to weak passwords and spurious e-mails opened in error. Please can staff be reminded to change their password on a regular basis, keeping an eye out for spurious e-mails. If they are unsure of the sender, particularly when the e-mail contains an attachment, we would advise to check the validity of the e-mail before opening the e-mail/attachment.
If you have any questions/queries regarding the above or have received an e-mail that you believe to be suspicious, please contact the ICT Service desk on 01706 927777 or alternatively e-mail them at ICTServicedesk@rochdale.gov.uk
TA'S AT STAFF MEETING Due to it being Parent's Evening - please can TA's gather in the IT suite this week so that you can look at hw to asdd books to the ZPD system. LGu is an expert and would love to share her knowledge so that all can get books onto the system and being read by all pupils.
CHRISTMAS ACTIVITY - FUNDRAISING WITH THE SCHOOL COUNCIL Next week all classes are going to recieve a pack of special paper that is to be decorated with a Christmas picture. The school council will talk about the fundraising activity in Monday's assembly.
Set time aside during the next two weeks - teachers to decide when and how this can be done. It should not take a large amount of time out of the planned curricular time.
Remember that bright and simple designs work best – use paint/coloured pens & pencils. (See gallery on our website www.iqcards.co.uk).
Find some inspiration from here: https://www.iqcards.co.uk/gallery-iq
Don’t stick anything on, don’t use glitter, don’t use plain pencil, don’t use metallic ink – none of these come up well on the end products.
Big, bright & bold = beautiful!
This picture is then to be sent home (with a letter and leaflet) where families can choose to have the picture made into christmas cards, wrapping paper, gift labels...etc and the school get a fraction of the money raised.
Parents send the design and the money back into the school office by Weds 3rd November.
Items ordered are returned early December.
STAFF WORKLOAD AND WELLBEING QUESTIONNAIRE Thanks to those that have completed the questionnaire. The feedback will be shared amongst SLT and governors and responses will be given to the answers that have been provided. We believe that happy staff = happy children and that's why the information provided will help us continue to help make Parkfield even better.
FIRST AIDER MEETING Monday during assembly time please in the staffroom.
OPEN DAY Our 2nd out of 3 events is on Tuesday 9 - 10am - we'll have propective parents looking around with the school council giving them a tour between 9.15am and 10.00am.
EARLY BIRDS AND BUSY BEES STAFFING For info, Lindsay Dipnall will now be working in EB every morning and BB on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Olliveah Bardsley will be working in BB on a Monday, Thursday and Friday.
FIRST AID TRAINING from the National College is to be completed before the end of November by all members of staff that are not first aiders.
ACCEPTABLE USE AGREEMENT needs to be signed by all staff and then handed to the office please.
REMINDER - PREVENT TRAINING Before October half term (2 weeks remaining) all members of staff must complete the PREVENT training that's found on the National College. A link will be emailed and the course can be accessed on your hub when you log into the National College. This course is 30 minutes and includes a 'simple' assessment at the end. Please find time to complete - this may include helping cover one another so that the training can be watched. Warning - it's not the most exciting training you'll ever complete!
TEACHER APPRAISALS thanks to teachers for signing up. Please speak to MK if you have any questions. Additional information has been emailed out to teachers.
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK It’s FINALLY October...This means all the cobwebs and dust in my home just became Halloween decorations.
STAFF MEETING next week is Parent's Evening
FRIDAY FORUM next Friday is time to look at how we'll embed the next Parkfield Characteristic into the curriculum after half term - led by LG.
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
RETRIEVAL PRACTICE WEBSITE Some interesting research papers and practical guidance can be found here: https://www.retrievalpractice.org/library
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
WHITE ROSE HUB DIGITAL RESOURCES Please check out these interactive resources that WRH have created https://whiterosemaths.com/digital-tools/ .

LFD TESTING Please continue to take the tests and submit your results to https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result . Karen Slatford needs to know about any tests that come back as inconclusive.
TWITTER Please keep on tweeting the amazing work you're doing.
COURSE FEEDBACK A reminder for all staff that if you attend a course (even via zoom) please can you complete the online form feeding back on how useful the course was. This is our way at school of tracking the impact of any training attended and also highlights what may need sharing with other staff in the school. The link is below but can also be found as a button near the bottom of every bulletin. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAJYp2DQ8_3IF4CbUroJyoboOayyqBkiFv_BsFl3PWQQmQmA/viewform?usp=sf_link
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Mrs Whalen (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Miss Steele (Deputy DSL)
If they're not available please see Mr Kemp.
