THIS WEEK'S NEWS

• QUALIFICATION AUDIT (Blank copies are in the staffroom) The Local Authority are auditing the qualifications of every member of support staff throughout Rochdale - over 6000 staff! As a result, I have to ask all support staff (TA's/Admin) to fill in a qualification audit sheet and then physically see the qualification/certificate. We do have most certificates in staff files but if we don't I will let you know. They're completing the audit as there are members of staff in schools across the LA that don't hold the relevant qualifications now - although they did originally have the correct qualification. As a result, these members of staff have been unable to apply for new positions in the same school or other schools. When the LA have all the info they need they'll be looking to apply for government funding for any training needs. I'll let you know if you personally could be affected.
• WORLD BOOK DAY THANKS It was lovely to see the children reading and the associated activities. So thank you for all of your hard work and support. Please let Mrs Whalen know if you have ideas of 'tweaks' to help things run smoothly next year.
• BEHAVIOUR TRAINING Please read the email about behaviour training on Tuesday 17th March until 5.30pm and let me know if you have any problems.
• EX-MEMBERS OF STAFF VISITING SCHOOL Sorry to sound cruel, but if you're aware an ex-member of staff is going to visit school please can you ask them to contact either myself or Gemma beforehand. School is a professional environment and when ex-members of staff visit the school it can cause disruptions to our already busy school day and it does impact on our safeguarding procedures. I'd like to limit these occasions.
• MEDIUM TERM PLANS ON GOOGLE SITES This is looking great and will be shared with parents in today's newsletter. Thanks for completing your classes plan - it looks like there are some incredibly creative lessons being delivered over the next half term. A reminder that it will finish with the Parkfield Curriculum Showcase Event on Tuesday 31st March.
• LEARNING LOGS Please ensure learning logs are sent out by the end of today.
• STAFF DEVELOPMENT OVERVIEW Is being updated and will be emailed soon.
• WINDOW FILM I know there are some advantages and disadvantages of the anti-glare film that has been installed in some classes over half term. One disadvantage is that nothing can be stuck to them!
• BLUE ROOM KITCHEN For clarification: the kitchen in the Blue Room is a controlled environment that has a separate inspection. Mrs Naughton is named in this inspection and there are specific guidelines and rules that have to be followed daily. This means that unless you have permission to use it for a specific purpose, it cannot be used for personal use. For example: making brews, adult dinners etc. All staff MUST use the staffroom kitchen for their own personal use and take breaks in the staffroom.
• BLUE ROOM Please continue to keep this area tidy and thank you for doing so. It's a busy room with multi-functional uses, so we will be looking at how best to manage the timetabling of how it's used as an ongoing process. However, for the moment, as it is so busy please can it be used for phonics in the morning (Y1), small groups and 1:1 sessions throughout the day as needed. Please can adults refrain from socialising or working in there as we have to prioritise it as a peaceful work-space for the children. Please use the old 'Inclusion Room' for PPA and the Staff room for breaks.
