THIS WEEK'S NEWS
- TA CHANGES Most of you will be aware that Liz Seddon leaves us at the end of this term after 9 fabulous years working in Y6. As a result, Sarah Naughton will be moving into Y6 with a temporary supply TA working in Y5. I will be letting pupils and parents know in next week's newsletter.
- TA 1 CHANGES Natalie is joining Year 3 in the mornings and staying in Year 1 in the afternoons.
- SENSORY SNACK is an obstacle course that will take place in the hall every morning from 8.45-9.10. It is a chance for our children with sensory difficulties/hyperactivity etc to access the movement that they need in order to be best prepared for their learning. It will be led by our fabulous TA1 team. If you would like to add any children who will benefit then please speak to Mrs Whalen.
- LUNCHTIME GAMES Are taking place every lunchtime on KS1 playground in the coned off area. They will also be taking place in the KS1 shared area, where 8 children can access Lego/construction/colouring each day.
- PARKFIELD PLAY CHALLENGE! Can all staff please play a game with children when outside on the yard and tick off on the sheets when they have done so. Let's see if we can play them all!
- QUARTER TO CREW is at quarter to three each day at KS1 doors. They will be doing large movements and exercise on the KS1 playground, then listening to calming music in the Blue Room at 3.00pm.
- LOVE OF READING BOOKMARKS will be disseminated to all children soon. Let's encourage a love of reading and use our new sparkly pens to tick them off!
- WRITING MODERATION will take place in Wednesday's staff meeting. Please bring one book that you would like to be leveled by another member of staff then you can discuss your findings.
- TEACHER ASSESSMENT DEADLINE Friday 13th is the deadline day for all teacher assessments (Y1-6) and effort grades to be input onto the SIMS system. Reports will be sent to parents on Wednesday 18th December along with copies of target sheets. We'll spend some of next week's staff meeting looking at assessment, SIMS and writing moderation.
- ELMWOOD Catherine, the headteacher from Elm Wood, really enjoyed her visit to Parkfield earlier this week. We've been able to share some good ideas with one another to support each others schools. Elmwood teach using the Cornerstones curriculum, as a result, we will be letting our teachers link up with those at Elm Wood during the Spring and Summer term to share ideas.
- FRIDAY FORUM will be LOTC led by Mr Kemp and Mrs Acil.
- CINEMA NIGHT Help needed! Please stay and enjoy a movie with us :)
- CHRISTMAS FAIR Help needed! All staff please sign up to a stall :)
- CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS Thanks to those that have agreed to stay tonight to help decorate the school and make it feel all Christmassy!
- ENGLISH AUDIT This Monday 2nd December Lisa Pearson from the English Hub will be spending the day in school. She will be focusing on reading and phonics in R-2. She may want to observe phonics, listen to children read and ask general questions about reading and phonics. This will be alongside Mrs Whalen as this is our school focus this Year and also a key feature that Ofsted will look closely at. Please carry on as normal as I'm confident that we have existing good practice that we can continue to build upon.
- SPELLING STRATEGIES PARENT DROP IN Thanks again for this mornings drop ins. I will collate the responses from parents about the two drop ins and let you all know what they thought. So far, it has all been incredibly positive.
- TA APPRAISALS Thanks to all TA's for their input into this week's appraisals.
- ADMIN LEVEL 2 The position is now online at greater.jobs and anyone interested can apply for the position. The closing date for the post is next Friday.
- THOUGHT OF THE WEEK Peace on earth will come to stay, when we live Christmas every day.

- PICTURE NEWS A reminder that I will be downloading these every Friday and put them into O:\Curriculum - Picture News (Weekly).

REMINDERS
- THURSDAY ASSEMBLIES We'd like to change Thursday assemblies to a 'Picture News' Assembly using the materials sent earlier on in the week. We're going to change Wednesday assemblies to that week's theme. There will no longer be a hymn practice. However, there should be a song in every assembly and we'll increase the number of songs at Harvest/Christmas/Easter...etc. Any questions please speak to GW.
- Y4 TEACHER Please note that we have a Mr Darren McGhee who will be teaching Y4 in the Spring term. Darren is currently on supply and has come recommended from a number of headteachers. We will let children/parents know in the next few weeks.
- TA READING DROP INS We'd like TA's to drop in on each other over the next month with a focus on reading. It maybe a reciprocal reading session or something linked to phonics. Decide which is most suitable for yourselves and arrange it between yourselves. Once complete, please fill in the staff drop in feedback form - link found below.
- INSET CONFIRMATION Wednesday 11th December is now our inset evening for Curriculum. Food will be provided! Please also note that LGBT+ Awareness training has been booked for Tuesday 3rd March from 3.30 - 5.30pm. The training will be delivered by the 'Proud Trust'. I would like all staff to attend this training. The usual rule will apply for those members of staff with 5 or more years service being paid. If there are any issues, please let MK know.

- New IEPs are due out this week!
Health and Safety
- LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
- Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Safeguarding
- Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
- If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
- Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
- Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a yellow pass.
Pupil Voice
- TURTLE COMPETITION The eco council will continue monitoring the class bins for recycling. A class each will be announced as a winner with the class in the lead at the end of the each half term will get a whole class reward.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Gemma will respond to any requests.

✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.
✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
