STAFF SIGNING IN From Monday we're returning to the staff signing in and out system on the ipad whenever you're in or out of the building. Please do your best to remember. We'll keep reminding you so that it becomes habit. To speed up the process, if a number of staff enter/leave the site at the same time the system allows you to select multiple members of staff.
WELLBEING TEAM I'd like to set up a staff wellbeing team that meets for just once every half term. The group will meet to discuss practical ways to improve the wellbeing of all staff at Parkfield. If you're interested, please drop MK an email.
TEACHER APPRAISAL REVIEWS looking at progress towards acheiving targets set back in Autumn term are to take place with MK over the next couple of weeks. Please sign up on the timetables in the staffroom, arrange cover as per usual and let MK know if there are any problems.
TEACHER CPD As mentioned at the staff meeting, please can teachers have a think about what their one personal CPD focus will be for the next half term. This is something that will be self-led. I'll think of a fancy name at some point! Examples may include: improving questioning, developing better lesson plenaries, effective use of adults within the class, more outdoor learning, use of concrete resources, improved differentiation, focussed interventions ...etc.
FIRE DRILL Well done on getting the children out and registered in just over 3 minutes earlier this week. It was good to see all doors were closed and a final sweep of the building was conducted efficiently.
DISCRETIONARY LEAVE REMINDER I thought I'd highlight that staff only have two days paid leave per academic year if a child is poorly. Anything over this will be unpaid - unless the member of staff can work from home. The 10 day rule is still in place but only for cases related to covid. If you have any questions about this, please speak to MK/KB. It can get confusing.
MATHS PASSPORT half termly assessments are to take place next week for Spring 1 targets. Please input results into the excel spreadsheet and also indicate where old assessments from Autumn have impoved. Speak to GP for more info.
TEACHER DROP INS *last few days* For the remainder of the term, we would like teachers to drop in on each other's maths lessons. Like previous, it only needs to be a short drop in but with an agreed focus. Please arrange it between yourselves and feedback is to be given on the staff drop in form (link found at the bottom of this bulletin)
NATIONAL COLLEGE This half term's training that all staff must complete is: zzz
NATIONAL COLLEGE You have all been emailed about Fire Safety Training. All staff must complete this before the end of this half term. All staff should have also now completed PREVENT and FIRST AID training.
STAFF MEETING next week is going to be focussed on Mathematics and lead by Gemma Price.
FRIDAY FORUM next week is planning for RE's theme day 'Across the world' coming up later in the term.
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
RETRIEVAL PRACTICE WEBSITE Some interesting research papers and practical guidance can be found here: https://www.retrievalpractice.org/library
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
BEHAVIOUR REPORTING It is vital that all yellow and red cards are recorded on SIMS. This is used to monitor behaviour at the school and procides evidence for governors and OFSTED about the behaviour and attitude of pupils at Parkfield. Do not forget to report and please ask if you need reminding on how to update.
CPOMS CPOMS isn't used just to report safeguarding incidents but provides school with a useful tool to track communication. This s a reminder that CPOMS is to be used for record conversations with parents that may be of some concern or may require a follow up in future. There is a tick box for 'SEN' and 'Parent communication'.
STAFF CPD, MEETINGS, MONITORING..ETC Spring term has been updated and can be found on the usual link below and here: https://parkfieldprimary-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/mkemp_parkfield_rochdale_sch_uk/EZTDcHecvX5Kud9HcZXVpg0BGDLeDWSBi4K4KvOJKnYA3A?e=bfdzuI
DOGS in the playground? They're not allowed so please either let the parent know or tell the office so we can send them a message.
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane, Marc or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Mrs Whalen (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Miss Steele (Deputy DSL)
If they're not available please see Mr Kemp.
✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
