COVID RISK ASSESSMENT Although restrictions are easing across the country, school will remain as it has been over the past few months. There will be no changes to the risk assessment within school. Please also notify Karen S about positive tests through official work emails, her address is kslatford@parkfield.rochdale.sch.uk
PUPIL PROGRESS MEETINGS Thanks to teachers for their preparation and then contribution to these meetings this week. Please ensure any actions are shared with others in your class and put in place the interventions discussed.
SEPTEMBER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES At this time of the year most of you will start thinking about September and where you will be working come the new academic year. MK will attempt to talk to all staff members over the next few weeks to discuss the classes and roles staff will be possibly undertaking in September. There will be some movement and a final decision will be made as soon as possible.
FOUNDATION SUBJECT ASSESSMENTS If teachers have any questions about the assessment materials presented on Thursday - please come and speak to him. Although this is a big shift is our assessment procedures, I'm sure you'll see the advantages it is going to bring to the pupils, staff and subject leaders.
MAPS ZM purchased a number of resources this past week with Middleton maps from across the past couple of hundred years. They're great for showing how land use has developed over time in the local area.
Y6 will now return on Monday 17th May following 10 days of self isolation.
RWI Thanks for your efforts over the past week and for the support you're providing one another. We know there have been many changes and developments over the past week and this will happen as we strengthen our delivery of the programme. We believe and it's proven that RWI will have a massively positive impact on our pupils and ensure that all Parkfielders leave KS1 being confident readers.
RWI PORTAL VIDEOS GW will be sending further information about an exciting new resource we've signed up to. It provides training videos for staff R-Y6 and videos for pupils to access. Once set up and implemented, it'll have many uses such as: additional one-one support for pupils and small groups, videos to share with parents, additional homework and bespoke training for teachers and TAs.
PHOTOGRAPHS Have been postponed until the end of this term due to Y6 isolating.
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK A TA I know was in a bad mood so I got a list of 10 puns to try to cheer them up. But No pun in ten did.
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
RETRIEVAL PRACTICE WEBSITE Some interesting research papers and practical guidance can be found here: https://www.retrievalpractice.org/library
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
ZPD NUMBERS Please explain to children how they use 'decimal numbers' to check that they understand HOW to choose a book that is in their ZPD range. We will circulate a poster to be displayed near your bookshelf, which may also help any children who are struggling with decimal numbers.
LFD TESTING Please continue to take the tests and submit your results to https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result . Karen Slatford needs to know about any tests that come back as inconclusive.
DISPLAYS A polite reminder to please update your displays in the hall and shared areas - thank you!
TWITTER Please keep on tweeting the amazing work you're doing. It's great to see and is a quick way to demonstrate to parents and the school community the work taking place across the school.
COURSE FEEDBACK A reminder for all staff that if you attend a course (even via zoom) please can you complete the online form feeding back on how useful the course was. This is our way at school of tracking the impact of any training attended and also highlights what may need sharing with other staff in the school. The link is below but can also be found as a button near the bottom of every bulletin. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAJYp2DQ8_3IF4CbUroJyoboOayyqBkiFv_BsFl3PWQQmQmA/viewform?usp=sf_link
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Mrs Whalen (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Miss Steele (Deputy DSL)
If they're not available please see Mr Kemp.
