- ED of L Thank you... it was so wonderful to hear that children were going home and speaking some words in a new language! They were so enthused about the morning, that many classes chose to extend their wonderful activities into the afternoon. Thank you for all of your creativity and hard work.
- PARENTS' EVENING Takes place this Wednesday from 2.30 - 6.00pm in the hall. Discussions should be around how well they've settled into class and things that they can focus on for the year ahead. Please do not put books out in classrooms. We will arrange between ourselves covering classes and releasing the children at hometime. We have: Mrs Whalen, Mrs Jeffrey, Mr Haughton, Miss Steele, and anyone else who wishes to volunteer! Mr Kemp will be in the hall. Please make sure the main teacher input has been completed before leaving the classroom and the children are working independently. You could also leave Picture News, Handwriting or a story, for example. Some parents may wish to collect earlier due to completing their parents evening. We will use Year 6 runners to collect the children from year 5 and 6. All other classes can release through their door when you see a parent. Mr Haughton will also be arranging for the tech team to be in the hall with online questionnaires. A small buffet will be available in the staffroom at 4:30pm :)
- PHOTOS will be taken like last year, in the library, on Wednesday - children will be taken in the order Families > Siblings > Y4 > Rec > Y1 > Y2 > Y3 > Y5 > Y6 at some point during the day so expect some disruption - sorry!
- FAMILY RACE NIGHT is here at school 6:30-9:00pm Friday 11th October. Family tickets are £5 for 2 adults and 3 children. We have a bar is serving alcoholic refreshments and food. The PTA have got it covered, but please come along and enjoy the night!!
- DINNER REGISTERS Please make sure that you are taking the dinner register after the normal register every day where the children answer what they are having that day for lunch! Please mark any changes as necessary with comments. Otherwise we will lose money with non-payment or incorrect food orders :(
- BOOKS FROM LAST YEAR Please pass the books you held back from last year to MK on Monday. They are needed so that we can moderate and measure the impact of a range of foci throughout the year.
- ACTION PLANS Thank you for sharing what's on your subject action plans. It is so uplifting that you thoroughly know your subjects and have an exciting range of objectives planned for them! We have an exciting year ahead...
- CHANGING POLICY Has been updated by Mrs Whalen and passed to the relevant staff. This is for nappy changes so please familiarise yourself with this and follow it as necessary.
- READING AREAS Well done to all classes who won prizes for their classrooms - comments praised how areas looked cosy, interactive and multi-sensory. A reminder that the £300 for this came from the PTA so please spend it as much as you can! A special well done to Year 3, who were the overall winners with their wonderful 'Reading Garden.' But also thank you to everyone involved in making all of our classrooms look wonderful for the year ahead.
- STAFF ICT EQUIPMENT INVENTORY REMINDER Please hand these forms in ASAP detailing what laptop/iPad etc you have.
- READING BOOKS Just a small reminder that if children have finished reading their colour bookband that we can automatically move them onto the next one. Please don't have children having to read the same book more than once as this is discouraging.
- REMINDER!! PLANNING ON STAFF DRIVE Thanks so much to those members of staff that are regularly saving their planning and flipcharts onto the staff drive. For those that haven't done so, please save them here: O:\Curriculum - Planning\2019-20, as soon as possible!!
- BEHAVIOUR Please make sure that Red and Yellow Cards are saved on SIMS. This is a must! If you're not sure how then please ask Mr Kemp or Mrs Whalen to show you.
- PARKFIELD DIG DAY Saturday 5th October 11am-3pm. Please bring friends/family and gardening tools. This is to clear the Friendship Garden ready for Forest School Learning.
- THOUGHT OF THE WEEK Stressed spelled backwards is desserts :)

- STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings.
- THE PARKFIELD WAY Thanks for your input the other day on the 'Parkfield Pledge' from the 'Parkfield Way' document. - READING AGE TESTS Please input data onto SIMS - any issues please speak with GW.
- PICTURE NEWS A reminder that I will be downloading these every Friday and put them into O:\Curriculum - Picture News (Weekly).

- TEST PAPERS SENT HOME Can all classes, except Y2, send home tests once they have been completed and used for assessments/intervention/QLA purposes. There's no use in keeping tests afterward, but parents can use them to support their children .

- HUMMUS After confirmation with mum, staff are allowed humus but must wash their hands as it can be dangerous for the girl in Reception. We will be working with the school nurse around a risk assessment with Chinese Food.
- KS2 EMOTIONAL LITERACY QUESTIONNAIRES Results have been emailed out.
- CPOMS See KB if you need help logging in.
- NEW WEBSITE Our new school website went live this week - hopefully you'll like the refreshed design and the more streamlined organisation of the menus.
- IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS TO SIGN Every member of staff must sign to acknowledge that you have received and read the documents sent this week. Remember to pass your pecuniary interest declaration forms to KB (if nothing, just write N/A across the table).
- ENCRYPTING EMAILS A reminder that you can encrypt emails that contain GDPR-sensitive content by simply typing in ENCRYPT somewhere in an email's subject.
- GOOGLE CALENDARS We have five different calendars: Parkfield, Staff Info, PPA, Assembly Themes and Staff Development. You can add these to your own Google Calendar by just clicking the '+ Google Calendar' icon on the different calendars embedded into this bulletin.
- IT EQUIPMENT Edit have been in over summer and updated lots of computers to Windows 10. Please remember to fill in the form detailing any equipment you have and pass it to KB - serial numbers of laptops can be found underneath them whilst on iPads they're on the back (or you can go to Settings > General > About which shows it a lot bigger).
Inclusion
- A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.
- If you have any concerns regarding IEP's please speak to Gemma asap.
Health and Safety
- LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
- Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Safeguarding
- Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
- If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
- Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
- Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a yellow pass.
Pupil Voice
- TURTLE COMPETITION The eco council will continue monitoring the class bins for recycling. A class each will be announced as a winner with the class in the lead at the end of the each half term will get a whole class reward.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Gemma will respond to any requests.
Link for logging incidents on CPOMS. If it's urgent - see Jane (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Gemma (Deputy DSL) immediately. If they're not available please see MK.

✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.
✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
