- 'THANK YOU' for curriculum overviews, learning logs, Poetry Morning, assessment data onto SIMS and reports being sent out. A busy start to the term!
- READING DROP INS are going to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday morning next week. The logistics of the day will be as follows:
- 9am: Parents and carers in hall for presentation. I will explain to parents about the key strategies we include through reciprocal reading: i.e. Predicting, Questioning and Summarising.
- 9.15 - 10am: Parents into classes dropping into a reading lesson. Teachers are welcome to deliver a lesson in anyway they feel suitable for their class.
- 10am Assembly - Parents to leave.
- PUPIL PROGRESS MEETINGS will take place next week. Please ensure the correct forms are completed beforehand. I'll have data/progress matrices with you asap.
- POLLING DAY As mentioned in an email earlier this week: Thursday’s polling day is classed as an INSET. As a result, any TA/admin staff with 5 years’ service will not have to attend work. However, any TA with less than 5 years and teachers will have to attend – we have a fun day planned! We'll start the day in Y6 at 9am.
- POLLING DAY - EUROPEAN ELECTIONS We will be closed to pupils on the 23rd May 2019. All staff will be expected in school as it is a working day. More information about what we will be doing on the day will follow.
- PSHCE RESOURCES JS has acquired a new PSHCE scheme, resources for which can be found in O:\PSHCE
- Y6 TESTS IN HALL ON MONDAY The hall is out of use as Y6 are completing some Maths tests throughout the whole day.
- PPA DAYS Due to the Bank holidays and two polling day coming up this next half term, I've attempted to move PPA days around so that there's an even spread for everyone across the school.
- FIRE DRILL will now be completed when we get back after Easter! Please remind the children of the procedure and let any new staff know what is expected.
- VACANCIES As discussed before Easter, there are two positions advertised on the GreaterJobs website. Both positions have deadline dates of the 3rd May and interviews are due to be held on the 8th May.

- TEST PAPERS SENT HOME Can all classes, except Y2, send home tests once they have been completed and used for assessments/intervention/QLA purposes. There's no use in keeping tests afterward, but parents can use them to support their children .
- MATHS TESTS Once you've completed the two papers please record results onto SIMS. All tests are on the staff drive.
- READING HALF TERMLY TESTS are due to be completed and results input onto SIMS. These will be the relevant Bug Club tests.
- READING BOOK BANDS Please record on SIMS the current book band of all children in your class. Teachers, please ask TA's to complete the task.
- MONITORING We're still on catch up !
- OUR VISION FOR MATHS See screenshots below showing a guide for how we would like maths lessons to be structured, although this doesn't need to be followed exactly each lesson.

REMINDERS
- WAGE SLIPS will be emailed to a personal email address from the summer. Karen will be asking for emails over the Summer term. Any questions, speak to Karen.
- BEHAVIOR INCIDENTS / YELLOW / RED CARDS Updated cards are now in the staffroom. These can be filled in by any member of staff. Once filled in they need to be passed to the school office who will record the incident onto SIMS. It is the class teachers responsibility to ensure it's given to the office and recorded. The new 'behaviour incident' slips are for those occasions that don't warrant a yellow card but the incident needs logging.
- BAR MODELLING REMINDER
- Spring and Summer: One session per week taught to targeted pupils
- WB 23rd April: Review of intervention/additional support and training (if required)
- WB 8th July: Targeted pupils complete assessment to see impact of intervention.
Inclusion
- A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.
- If you have any concerns regarding IEP's please speak to Gemma asap.
Health and Safety
- LANYARDS WHEN DRIVING A request from Governors. Due to information in the news recently, governors have shared their concerns of driving whilst wearing lanyards and asked staff to be mindful of the potential accidents if you wear a lanyard and the damage that can be caused if you have an accident. For example, people have been injured if an airbag has gone off and there have been keys on a lanyard. - LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
- Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Safeguarding
- If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
- Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
- Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a yellow pass.
Pupil Voice
- TURTLE COMPETITION The eco council will continue monitoring the class bins for recycling. A class each will be announced as a winner with the class in the lead at the end of the each half term will get a whole class reward.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Carolyn will respond to any requests.

✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.
✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
