- FOCUS EDUCATION RESOURCES We've just purchased some history, geography and science resources to help you plan for topic and English lessons. These can be found in O:\2019-2020\Curriculum. There are also some Knowledge Organisers in there too which look brilliant, although these might need adapting/adding to over time. We'll be looking at how to utilise these effectively in a future staff meeting.
- STAFF DRIVE I will be tidying up the Staff Drive over summer, creating a new folder structure to make things easier to find. If you can't find a resource, please look in the Archive folder I'll be creating then drag it into the relevant new folder.
- KS2 FABULOUS FRIDAY will start on the second week back - this is due to Y5 being at Robinwood and Miss Astley not being in.
- STAFF HANDBOOK I have updated the staff handbook for you to read and familiarise yourself with by September. You will receive a copy by email but hard copies will be available in the staffroom in September.
- EDIT will be in at the end of August to set up some new staff laptops, new computers for the ICT Suite and upgrade lots of machines to the more recent Windows 10 wherever possible so they run better. SH will install other bits in September on them (e.g. fonts, Smart Notebook, driver to make the board interactive etc.) - please be patient as those first few days are incredibly busy anyway.
- THANK YOU to those staff who joined us at the Y6 Leavers' Party on Friday - your support is much appreciated!
- NEW TA1 After finding out on Monday that we had a child coming into reception with an EHCP, we've fortunately been able to recruit a new member of staff to the role. Lindsay Dippnall (Ava F's Mum) will be joining the team in September and working in the Reception classroom.
- PARKFIELD PASSPORT Please pass your suggestions to MK or type them directly into O:\Curriculum and Planning\Parkfield Passport.
- PICTURE NEWS From September, every Friday, MK/GW will download Picture News resources into O:\Curriculum and Planning\Picture News - Weekly. These contain pictures and question prompts that we would like you to use to discuss current affairs/events with the children. No written work is required - just talk about the content whenever you have 15 minutes or so free.
- HOLIDAY OPENING School will be open the first and last two weeks - please contact AH/MK if you are intending to come in so you can be let in at the gates.
- SUMMER WORKS Painters are in over the first week to paint the offices, foyer, corridor, toilets and staff room. This is being paid for through the flood insurance money.
- DINNER MENUS Our fantastic new menus start with Week 1 on the first Wednesday back - remember you can order staff teas to take home!

There is an expectation that all TA's will attend the INSET and those that have more than 5 years service will be paid for the additional 8.5 hours. If there are any issues, please let me know asap. Please note, PPA time will be given for all teachers during the Tuesday afternoon on the 3rd September to prepare classrooms.
- CURRICULUM OVERVIEWS CHECK We will be emailing parents with a link to our new curriculum website on the first Friday back. Please ensure the page for your first topic is up-to-date - memorable moments, big finish etc.
- WATER BOTTLES Children will be getting new water bottles in September.
- CLASSROOM SECRETS We have given them all the email addresses of teachers and TA2s+ so you might be getting an email in the near future about creating an account.
- GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK Mr Grierson, Mrs Jones, Mrs Roworth.
- GOOD LUCK AND THANK YOU Mrs Palfreyman! We all wish you a wonderful reitrement - it's well deserved.
- TAs From September, I want all TAs to attend staff meetings on a Wednesday. I feel that the professional development in the meetings will help us all and it'll also help improve communication. We're a great team and we'll be made stronger by working together in staff meetings. If you have any potential issues attending, please come and speak to me.
- AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS As a result of TAs attending staff meetings there will be fewer after school at the beginning of the school year. However, I hope to increase it as we progress throughout the new school year.
- PLAYGROUND ROTA I've increased the number of staff on duty to three each break time. This is to help improve the behaviour on the playground as 90% of incidents occur at break and dinner. It will also help reduce the number of times someone has to cover...for example, if someone is off....we'll still have enough with two members of staff. If you spot any potential issues with the rota...please let GW asap.
- FRIDGE / FREEZER Please empty out any food you have in the fridge and the freezer.
- STAFF GOVERNOR GW will be joining the Governing Body from September as a staff governor. JB will be joining meetings as an observer.
- NEW APPRENTICE Maria Ayrey was successful during Wednesday's interviews. Maria is actually an ex pupil and will be joining hte team mid September. She has to complete a week's induction at Riverside, Rochdale. Maria will be working in Y2 from September, as a result R Mullane will be moving up into KS2 with the Y3 class.

- HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER It's been a hard slog to the end of this term. There's been a lot of upheaval with staff absence/maternity but we've pulled together as a team and I'd like to thank each and everyone of you for all your hard work and efforts over the year. September 2019 will bring some exciting changes as Parkfield continues to go from strength to strength!!

- CURRICULUM SITE Many thanks for all the efforts on the curriculum site over the past few weeks. It's looking great. This will replace the curriculum overviews and will ensure all teachers are clear about what is being delivered and when. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
- READING TESTS Please ensure results are recorded onto SIMS. Tests can be sent home once marked and analysed for areas of improvement.
- TEST PAPERS SENT HOME Can all classes, except Y2, send home tests once they have been completed and used for assessments/intervention/QLA purposes. There's no use in keeping tests afterward, but parents can use them to support their children .

- IMPROVING PUNCTUALITY - CHANGE OF TIMINGS IN MORNINGS To improve punctuality and get more children into school at 8.45am I'm introducing the following change from this Monday 8th:
- Bell will sound at 8.45am for start of day.
- 8.50am Bell will sound to close the doors.
- 8.50 onwards Children must come through the main entrance. This will be monitored by a member of staff.
- 9.00am Bell will sound and registers can then be taken. Registers must be saved before 9.10am. Anyone arriving after this time will be recorded as a late by the office.
- Parents have been told of the change.
- We're starting now so that the children and parents can get used to the change for September. The reason for the change is that children arriving at 9am are actually missing 1hour and 15 minutes of learning time each week - over 40 hours per year! It also frees staff to complete jobs rather than standing on a door for those important 10 minutes.
- KNOWLEDGE ORGANISERS Simon has started on a templates for knowledge organisers as some are difficult to find online. They can be found in O:\2019-2020. They're not compulsory at the moment and you can still download copies from the Internet. However, over time we will try and get a more consistent format.
Inclusion
- A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.
- If you have any concerns regarding IEP's please speak to Gemma asap.
Health and Safety
- LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
- Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Safeguarding
- Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Carolyn or Jane.
- If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
- Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
- Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a yellow pass.
Pupil Voice
- TURTLE COMPETITION The eco council will continue monitoring the class bins for recycling. A class each will be announced as a winner with the class in the lead at the end of the each half term will get a whole class reward.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Carolyn will respond to any requests.
Link for logging incidents on CPOMS. If it's urgent - see Carolyn (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Jane (Deputy DSL) immediately. If they're not available please see MK or GW.

✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.
✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
