ASSESSMENT DATA ONTO SIMS It always seems a little crazy at the end of term in regards to assessment so here's a reminder of the Autumn term test scores/information that need to be input onto SIMS. Please make sure you're completing the 2020-21 marksheet where relevant.

PUPIL PROGRESS MEETINGS will take place next week. Please sign up asap in the staffroom and arrange cover if possible with a TA. If struggling...let me know. Please bring with you the previous pupil progress meeting notes - these can then be annotated rather than re-written. Please also bring along target sheets for reading, writing and maths - where we'll be focusing on the sheets of the children mentioned on the PPM forms.
GAMES DAY We will ask children to bring in games this Monday so they can be 'quarantined' (left in a corner of the room!) and then they can be played on Friday.
CHRISTMAS CRAFT NIGHT Huge thanks to all the staff that helped out over the two nights. Your hard work and dedication is appreciated and the children had a wonderful time. We made over £400, which is fantastic. Well done.
CHRISTMAS PARTIES are on Friday. They are in half hour slots starting from 9am (on google calendar). Please mop the hall when you have finished. There are prizes and sweets in the classroom. Please prepare some games for the children to play in the hall - dancing comp/musical statues/corners/pass the parcel etc.
CHRISTMAS DINNER Please don't sit and eat with the children - please wear a mask and help out with the crackers and hats! Then help yourself to a Christmas dinner to eat at a social distance somewhere else. Thank you! Reception will go in the hall at 11.30 and the classes will be called in the usual order after that.
PARKFIELD CHARACTER - CO-OPERATION Please add you nomination to the list in the staffroom by 12pm on Wednesday. The school council will be reading all the reasons you write down and deciding upon the two overall winners.
SECRET SANTA Please hand in to the office by Thursday.
SUBJECT LEADER QUESTIONNAIRE MK has sent a questionnaire to all subject leaders. Please complete.
BAR MODEL CHALLENGE Congratulations to last week's winner. This week's challenge is below. If you can correctly answer the question below using a bar model and place it on MK's desk by 9am on Friday you could win yourself a bottle of Prosecco!
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Kim and May have the same number of stickers. After Kim gave away 16 stickers and May gave away 12 stickers, May had twice as many stickers as Kim. How many stickers did Kim have left?
SEMH Make time for yourself, keep healthy: eat a good diet and exercise, get enough sleep, have a social life. TIME TO REST AND SOCIALISE NEEDS TO BE NON-NEGOTIABLE! Finally, do an activity that you know both you and the children will enjoy.
SIGN OF THEE WEEK Please practice with your class... ‘Christmas’. Put one hand on top of the other in front of you. Slide right hand over the left hand and close to a fist. Also, please sing this: We wish you a merry Christmas video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-PBixyD_GU
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK What is the best Christmas present in the world? A broken drum, you just can’t beat it!
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
RETRIEVAL PRACTICE WEBSITE Some interesting research papers and practical guidance can be found here: https://www.retrievalpractice.org/library
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
COURSE FEEDBACK A reminder for all staff that if you attend a course (even via zoom) please can you complete the online form feeding back on how useful the course was. This is our way at school of tracking the impact of any training attended and also highlights what may need sharing with other staff in the school. The link is below but can also be found as a button near the bottom of every newsletter. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAJYp2DQ8_3IF4CbUroJyoboOayyqBkiFv_BsFl3PWQQmQmA/viewform?usp=sf_link
Here's an interesting article about retrieval with some practical strategies that you can use in the classroom or during intervention: https://howthenshouldweteach.wordpress.com/2018/11/24/6-retrieval-practice-strategies-to-use-everyday/
FACE MASKS A reminder that if you wear one of the medically graded face masks when you're around children and staff you don't become part of that bubble and therefore won't need to isolate if a bubble is sent home. We'd suggest that during the final week of this term all staff wear these masks to limit the possibility of having to isolate over Christmas.
TWITTER Please keep on tweeting the amazing work you're doing. It's great to see and is a quick way to demonstrate to parents and the school community the work taking place across the school.
JANE CONSIDINE Has uploaded independent task ideas for the units of work on the site that we subscribe to - check it out :)
STAFF CHRISTMAS CARDS CHARITY IDEA We thought this year under the Covid restrictions it might be nice to have an alternative to handing out Christmas Cards between staff members. Karen S will be putting up a paper tree on the staff room wall along with a little donation box and paper baubles to write your Christmas message on and blue tack on the tree! All donations will go to Cancer research - as we would like to do something close to our hearts for Zack.
TWILIGHTS We have 2 twilight sessions coming up after Christmas. Save the dates: Tuesday 12th January and Monday 18th January. Both dates are from 3.30 - 5.30pm and will be via zoom. The sessions are going to specifically for subject leaders. As a result not all staff are requied to attend. A separate email will be sent with further details. For info, this means that all 5 INSET days for this year are complete.
PE CHALLENGE it's in the hall!
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
