NEW BOOKS AND COMICS In line with our love to read initiative, we have a number of graphic novels and weekly comic subscriptions that will be soon arriving in your classrooms. Many of the graphic novels have a ZPD and quiz on Accelerated Reader. Please ensure they're displayed appropriately in your class libraries. A separate basket/area for magazines will be needed as more are delivered over the coming weeks and months.
EYFS POSITION We successfully appointed Misbah Iqbal earlier this week to cover Gemma's maternity leave. She is an ECT (Early Career Teacher - used to be NQT!) and we're sure she will be a great addition to the team.
EASTER SERVICE For this year's Easter service all classes are going to contribute a little to the event. Rec, Y1 and Y2 will be working together to sing 'Spring Chicken'. Year 6 will be presenting and Year 3, 4 and 5 are to present some of their work on Easter- no more than 3 minutes per class is needed and only a select number of pupils need to be involved.
WELLBEING TEAM REMINDER I'd like to set up a staff wellbeing team that meets for just once every half term. The group will meet to discuss practical ways to improve the wellbeing of all staff at Parkfield. If you're interested, please drop MK an email - there is a currently a small group interested.
EASTER SONGS Assemblies are to include hymn practice for Easter service for the next few weeks please.
BINGO NIGHT Are you available on Friday 1st April? We're going to be having two events from 3.30 - 5.30pm and then 6.30 - 8.30pm in the school hall. It will be a great money earner for the school and will feel like normality is returning. If you're able to help - it would be appreciated - please let us know by signing up in the staffroom.
TEACHER ASSESSMENT DEADLINE These creep up on us! Deadline for all data to be input is going to now be Wednesday 28th March. TA for maths, reading and writing needs to be input in addition to different aspects for other subjects and effort grades. We'll be discussing at next week's staff meeting.
TEACHER DROP INS *next 2 weeks* For the next 2 weeks we'd like all staff to drop in on each other's Science lessons. Drop ins need to last no longer than 20 minutes but will be highly effective in sharing good practice. Please arrange the drop ins between yourselves and let MK know if you're strugling. Once complete, fill in the 'drop-in' feedback form (link found below).
NATIONAL COLLEGE This half term's training that all staff must complete is: Mental Health Certificate. The course helps you identify and informally support those pupils that are stuggling with thier mental health and wellbeing. Please complete the training before the end of this half term - arranging your own cover when neccessary.
STAFF MEETING next week is going to be focussed on Assessment and Art.
FRIDAY FORUM will not run next week.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
DISCRETIONARY LEAVE REMINDER I thought I'd highlight that staff only have two days paid leave per academic year if a child is poorly. Anything over this will be unpaid - unless the member of staff can work from home. The 10 day rule is still in place but only for cases related to covid. If you have any questions about this, please speak to MK/KB. It can get confusing.
BEHAVIOUR REPORTING It is vital that all yellow and red cards are recorded on SIMS. This is used to monitor behaviour at the school and procides evidence for governors and OFSTED about the behaviour and attitude of pupils at Parkfield. Do not forget to report and please ask if you need reminding on how to update.
CPOMS CPOMS isn't used just to report safeguarding incidents but provides school with a useful tool to track communication. This s a reminder that CPOMS is to be used for record conversations with parents that may be of some concern or may require a follow up in future. There is a tick box for 'SEN' and 'Parent communication'.
DOGS in the playground? They're not allowed so please either let the parent know or tell the office so we can send them a message.
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane, Marc or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Mrs Whalen (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Miss Steele (Deputy DSL)
If they're not available please see Mr Kemp.

✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
