1980s THEME DAY - What a huge success! Thank you for all of your efforts - the children have loved it!
REMINDER - PREVENT TRAINING Before October half term (5 weeks remaining) all members of staff must complete the PREVENT training that's found on the National College. A link will be emailed and the course can be accessed on your hub when you log into the National College. This course is 30 minutes and includes a 'simple' assessment at the end. Please find time to complete - this may include helping cover one another so that the training can be watched. Warning - it's not the most exciting training you'll ever complete!
TEACHER APPRAISALS will begin WB 4th October and run over a 3 week period. MK will email with specific times and dates for teachers.
LBGT BOOKS REMNINDER please could books be returned to the staffroom table. I'll send an email of the list so that you can have a poke around in your classrooms.
RECEPTION AT LUNCHTIMES We are going to begin transitioning Reception onto the KS1 yard at lunchtimes. We therefore need the following to be actioned: The Blue Room toilet to be used at lunch and then cleaned at the end by someone on duty. A member of staff to supervise each zone of the playground. Members of staff to support SEND. Children to be taught how to use the ply equipment. More information to follow.
RESILIENCE ROOM Please leave the room empty at 9am and 10.45am. Please work in a different space at these times.
WET PLAYTIMES Please have a box of games in your cupboard labelled 'wet play games' and have a monitor in charge of looking after them. We have lego in school and if you need toy donations I'll be happy to help put out a message for this.
BOOKS Do you have books that need labelling with a ZPD number? If so, then kindly see Mrs Gully. Thank you.
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK It’s FINALLY October...This means all the cobwebs and dust in my home just became Halloween decorations.
STAFF MEETING next week is sharing action plans with one another and the governors.
FRIDAY FORUM next Friday is an English flick with a focus on SPAG/Reading books and SPAG please.
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
RETRIEVAL PRACTICE WEBSITE Some interesting research papers and practical guidance can be found here: https://www.retrievalpractice.org/library
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
WHITE ROSE HUB DIGITAL RESOURCES Please check out these interactive resources that WRH have created https://whiterosemaths.com/digital-tools/ . The on eon there at the moment is an interactive place value chart that could be incredibly useful.
NATIONAL COLLEGE Although we will introduce it in a staff meeting, all staff can now access the national college website https://thenationalcollege.co.uk/login which has a range of training materials on there. MK has set up some videos on personal 'watchlists' that he feels are appropriate for certain roles. However, you can access all training materials. The videos can be anything between 20 minutes to 1 hour 30 mins long. The plan is to provide release time for staff to watch the videos but you're welcome to watch them at anytime. There are also a range of accredited courses on there that are included in our subscription.
ZPD NUMBERS Please explain to children how they use 'decimal numbers' to check that they understand HOW to choose a book that is in their ZPD range. We will circulate a poster to be displayed near your bookshelf, which may also help any children who are struggling with decimal numbers.
LFD TESTING Please continue to take the tests and submit your results to https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result . Karen Slatford needs to know about any tests that come back as inconclusive.
TWITTER Please keep on tweeting the amazing work you're doing. It's great to see and is a quick way to demonstrate to parents and the school community the work taking place across the school.
COURSE FEEDBACK A reminder for all staff that if you attend a course (even via zoom) please can you complete the online form feeding back on how useful the course was. This is our way at school of tracking the impact of any training attended and also highlights what may need sharing with other staff in the school. The link is below but can also be found as a button near the bottom of every bulletin. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAJYp2DQ8_3IF4CbUroJyoboOayyqBkiFv_BsFl3PWQQmQmA/viewform?usp=sf_link
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Mrs Whalen (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Miss Steele (Deputy DSL)
If they're not available please see Mr Kemp.
✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
