THIS WEEK'S NEWS

• A WARM WELCOME To Maria Ayrey who will be joining our Parkfield team in Year 2.
• Y1 MATHLETICS Mr Kemp will introduce Mathletics to our Year 1 parents in the hall on Tuesday morning. Year 1 children will then work with their parents and teachers on the ipads in the hall.
• EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES is on Monday 30th September in the morning. Mr Barnes will be giving more information about it soon!
• MICROSOFT ONEDRIVE Linked in with your school email address, everybody has access to 1TB of online storage through OneDrive. Please see SH if you would like assistance in setting this up to automatically back up any of your own files (all data stored on the school drives is automatically backed up anyway each night in a box above JS's desk, OneDrive is just a lot easier to recover work from).
• GOVERNORS Thank you for your recent voting to appoint a parent governor. In the end, however, one of our other governors has decided to leave so we are able to re-appoint Mr K Langan as a parent governor and able to co-opt Mr Dugdill onto the governing body too. I'm sure you'll agree from their personal statements that they will both be great assets to the school!
• SUBJECT ACTION PLANS Mr Kemp has sent an email out advising on how they should be completed for this year. The deadline is Tuesday 1st October.
• FEEDBACK FROM PARENT DROP-INS is now on the website here - there are lots of incredibly positive comments and it's great to see that such events are useful.
• CURRICULUM SITE The governors want to thank all the staff who have contributed to it and think that parents will especially appreciate the content being shared on it.
• SPEED TABLES Mr Kemp will be updating how we do Speed Tables. They will strengthen our teaching of times tables to secure better progress for our pupils. Information about these will be shared in due course.
• ENGLISH Please try out the writing revolution sentence activities from the staff meeting (that can be found under O:\Subject - English\Writing Revolution). Remember, they can be used as a SODA, as part of writing intervention or as part of a normal writing lesson. Mr Barnes has created the templates for teachers to complete related to their own context. You can even incorporate Alan Peat sentence types if you're feeling adventurous! The more we practice sentence skills, the more confident pupils will become at sentence construction. Any problems, see Joe. A reminder that the Alan Peat Sentences book and Descriptosaurus book can be found on http://english.parkfieldprimary.com/ (username = e, password = e).
• MACMILLAN COFFEE AFTERNOON The PTA will be setting up this event on Friday 27th at 1:30pm. The event will run from 2-3pm. Please feel free to donate some cake! We may even be getting some of our School Councillors to serve the cakes!
• REGISTERS Please can you complete your registers after 9am and save them before 9.10am. If a child comes through the main entrance after 8.50am but are in class at 9am they should be marked as present. We're having discrepancies in the registers with siblings that arrive at the same time to school being marked as absent/late.
• SAVE THE DATE On Friday 11th October at 6:30pm, the PTFA will be holding a family race night - support from staff would be much appreciated.
• PARKFIELD DIG DAY Saturday 5th Ocober 11am-3pm. Please bring friends/family and gardening tools. This is to clear the Friendship Garden ready for Forest School Learning.
• PUPIL VOICE ELECTIONS Please complete the votes before Monday's assembly and pass on to Mrs Whalen to announce the winners.
• WATER BOTTLES IN KS2 We now have monitors from Early Birds to empty and fill water bottles before school. This will cut down on the queues and ensure a calm and welcoming environment in the cloakrooms.
• LEARNING ENVIRONMENT CHECKLIST has been updated and handed out to teachers and TAs. There are a few tweaks to reflect the current expectations. We can't wait to see how amazing our classrooms are going to look. There is £50 available to spruce up your reading environments. Please be as creative and imaginative as you possibly can. The winning classroom(s) will receive a very exciting prize! Please hand in your ticked checklist in three weeks time in preparation for SLT to do the learning environment check. You may order through the office or claim up to £50 by putting receipts in.
• PUPIL REWARDS A reminder to keep sending home 'positive postcards' and sending children to GW/MK if they do something outstanding!
• REDWOOD will be working in the Friendship Gardens each Friday morning.
• DROP INS MK and GW will be dropping in a range of lessons over the next few weeks just looking at rules and routines and ensuring that these are of a high standard. We're focusing on how independent the children are and seeing how this can be developed across the school.
• TESTBASE A reminder that we subscribe to Testbase - a brilliant resource for easily locating questions from past SATs test linked to topics you want.

• ASSEMBLY The children have been been beautifully behaved. Thank you for your efforts to send the children into assembly in a more manageable order.
