THANKS AND WELL DONE I'd like to start by saying thanks to all the staff that dealt with yesterday's incident in the Reception class. In a moment of crisis, everyone dealt with it professionally and promptly and the level of care provided to our pupils was exemplary.
REPORTS We have taken the decision to not send out the target sheets for reading, writing and maths this academic year. Please continue to update these as they'll be passed onto the next class teacher. The reading assessment sheets from 'Accelerated Reader' will be sent out with the report for children in Y2-6.
REPORTS DATE REMINDERS Reports are to be completed by Friday 9th July and will be sent out on Friday 16th. The staff meeting on the 23rd June is going to be for report writing with the 7th July staff meeting being used as proof reading time for the next class teacher. You can start your comments straight away using the template on the staff drive - there is no need to wait for grades to be input as these will be placed on the first page.
TWO TLR3 POSTS Governors have approved two temporary TLR3 posts that will be in place from 1st September 2021 for 2 years and will be paid £2,833 per annum. These posts are available to any interested teacher within the school. The posts are linked to the Covid recovery plan and are titled: Raising Attainment Post Covid. The role will include leading a key area area across the school and being accountable for the standards in that subject. The role will include being a member of the SLT, supporting the HT and DHT raise standards across the school, supporting collegues with teaching and learning, monitoring and evaluating standards, data analysis and implementing whole school strategies to support pupils following Covid.
If you are interested in in the role, please email Marc before 12pm on Friday 18th June with an expression of interest. In the email please state why you would like the role and the relevant skills, experience and attributes you have to fulfil the role. Informal interviews will then take place with Marc and a governor WB 28th June.
ROLES AND RESONSIBLITIES FOR 2021-22 Following the successful recruitment to the two TLR3 posts I will then look at re-distributing the roles and responsibilities for other areas. This will include subject leadership which may require a few changes.
TA2 POST Thanks to those that have put a letter in to demonstrate an interest in the position. Marc will email you back with further details of the interview process which we hope will take place next Friday 18th June.
SPELLING BEE takes place next week and will involve 2 classes at once in the hall. 10 children will be involved - 5 identified spellers from each class. Due to Covid we won't be including other classes or zooming the special assemblies but we will tweet plenty of pictures.
LFD TESTS You must remember to report your result. This data is being monitored by the DfE and LA to check the take up of testing and recent data shows we've gone from 60 test results a week back in March, to 8 test results submitted just before half term.
PARKFIELD CHARACTER This term we're looking at the characteristic of being 'communicative'. Character lanyards, stickers and posters have been handed out to each class this next week for each class to promote the characteristic within their classroom. For this half term teachers can decide on how to use the lanyards in one of two ways:
Have two 'character spotters' that wear the lanyard for the day/week and feedback at the end of the day on who they feel have demonstrated that characteristic. Reward those identified with a Parkfield Character sticker.
Use the lanyards as a reward for those that have demonstrated the characteristic.
We hope that this small initiative will help promote the Parkfield Characteristics even more across the school and ensure it's woven throughout the curriculum.
POETRY MORNING Thanks for all your efforts. What a great way to start the week.
IPADS Have now been timetabled in throughout the week for MyOn. Please be carful when booking them out that they don't get double booked here and there. Thank you.
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK My teacher looked at me and said, "Quick, name two pronouns!" I said "Who, me?"

FRIDAY FORUM Guided Reading Discussion with Joe and Gemma W
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
RETRIEVAL PRACTICE WEBSITE Some interesting research papers and practical guidance can be found here: https://www.retrievalpractice.org/library
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
ZPD NUMBERS Please explain to children how they use 'decimal numbers' to check that they understand HOW to choose a book that is in their ZPD range. We will circulate a poster to be displayed near your bookshelf, which may also help any children who are struggling with decimal numbers.
LFD TESTING Please continue to take the tests and submit your results to https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result . Karen Slatford needs to know about any tests that come back as inconclusive.
TWITTER Please keep on tweeting the amazing work you're doing. It's great to see and is a quick way to demonstrate to parents and the school community the work taking place across the school.
COURSE FEEDBACK A reminder for all staff that if you attend a course (even via zoom) please can you complete the online form feeding back on how useful the course was. This is our way at school of tracking the impact of any training attended and also highlights what may need sharing with other staff in the school. The link is below but can also be found as a button near the bottom of every bulletin. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAJYp2DQ8_3IF4CbUroJyoboOayyqBkiFv_BsFl3PWQQmQmA/viewform?usp=sf_link
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
