THIS WEEK'S NEWS
- PARENTS EVENING will run as it normally does this time of year with the focus on reading, writing and mathematics. We're all experienced with this but a reminder to:
- Ask if they have any questions to ask first
- Focus on progress being made in reading, writing and maths
- Explain anything important their child needs to work on from target sheets and what they can do to support.
- Explain where they're expected to be at the end of the year. This will cause less surprises on Summer reports. For example, if XXX continued they will meet/exceed age related expectations. Alternatively, XXX will still be working towards age related levels at the end of the year but we are doing XYZ to ensure their progress is accelerated.
- PARENT'S EVENING Wednesday's after school clubs are still to take place please. I know space will be limited.
- OUR VISION FOR MATHS See screenshots below showing a guide for how we would like maths lessons to be structured, although this doesn't need to be followed exactly each lesson - Laura liked how each teacher personalised their lessons unlike her own school which are more regimented.
- RB starts her maternity leave today and we wish her all the best. Her role will be covered by Miss Emma McGuinness.
- HEADTEACHER ADVERT is now online at https://www.greater.jobs/search-and-apply/job-details/RO-24611/. Potential candidates will be given tours around the school.
- iPHONES We have purchased three iPhone SEs to use as cameras on trips which must be signed in/out by staff from the office. Does anybody have a spare 5W USB plug they could donate to save us buying one to add to the two that have already been donated?
- POLLING DAY has been confirmed for 2nd May and the school will be closed to pupils. Staff will still have to attend.
- BUGS AND BUNS for reception pupils is next Friday and will be taking place in the hall and classroom.
- MATHS MASTERY As I said in the staff meeting, well done to all staff. There were some fabulous lessons going on across the school. As a reward, we're able to show off our skills later in the month to approximately 18 other colleagues!
- KAGAN DROP INS will take place next week. Record a 10 minute slot on the timetable in the staffroom when you'd like MK or GW to drop into a topic lesson.
- BAR MODELLING TRAINING The re-arranged training will be taking place with MK on Monday at 2.30pm in the Blue Room for all TA2's.
- ECO GARDEN work on our brand new Eco garden has started! Exciting times! A fancy video of the plan can be found here: https://youtu.be/91Fks52gb98
- FISH TANK Thanks to LH for donating the fish tank and 9 fish! They'll be enjoyed by all and have already been a huge hit with the children!

- STAFF MEETING next week is obviously Parent's evening until 7pm.
- SCIENCE QUESTIONS You can find copies of past-science SATs questions grouped by topic on O:\Science\SATs Questions. Although there is no Y6 Science SAT anymore, schools can still be chosen by the DfE for children to take part in a 'sampling test' for them to monitor attainment. These questions are also great for sharing during lessons to clarify misconceptions and check children can relate theory to scientific enquiries.

- SUBJECT LEADERS Please request time using the link below - if no requests are received I will assume that all subject leader responsibilities are being carried out at other times.
- READING BOOK BAND TRACKER Thanks for completing this on SIMS. GW and RA can use this for tracking and monitoring purposes.

- BAR MODELLING REMINDER
- WB 21st Jan: Training/reminder for teachers and TA's with bar modelling resources
- Spring and Summer: One session per week taught to targeted pupils
- WB 23rd April: Review of intervention/additional support and training (if required)
- WB 8th July: Targeted pupils complete assessment to see impact of intervention.
- PE NOMINATION In assembly, the children were shown how to nominate another pupil for a Kids4Kids Award. The award is being run by EdStart - our PE providers. Children nominate a pupil that they feel show commitment and attitude to sport. Nominations can also be received from teachers. There are some lovely prizes that can be won - which will announced just before Easter.
- ROTAWEB QUEUING SPOTS Dave is in the middle of (and will finish soon) painting some bright yellow sports next to the rota web. The idea is that the children line up on these spots before getting onto the rota web. It will make sure there are the correct amount of pupils on the rota web and that the queuing system is simpler to manage!
- GOVERNORS You may see these dropping into school more frequently - this is part of improving their knowledge/awareness/visibility in school.
- PROUD PARKFIELDERS DISPLAY This we be in the entrance foyer and for displaying photos of children who do achievements outside of school.
- TWEETING Please keep tweeting lots of the exciting lessons and activities that the children are doing. Parents love to see the tweets and they're great evidence of what's happening in each class.
- RECEPTION PARENT DROP INS Parents in reception class are able to drop in on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 8.45am for a maximum of 20 minutes. This is to strengthen those home-school links
- EXTRA WEDNESDAY PE LESSONS are now timetabled into the school calendar once every three weeks for classes. I know it's cold but you must give your pupils the opportunity for the extra PE lesson! Planning is available on the staff drive - alternatively, chat to Jenny and she'll let you know where they're up too.
- YELLOW AND RED CARDS need to be recorded on SIMS. Please speak to MK if you require any support.

Inclusion
- A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.
- If you have any concerns regarding IEP's please speak to Gemma asap.
Health and Safety
- LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
- Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Safeguarding
- If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
- Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
- Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a yellow pass.
Health and Safety
- Please continue to use step ladders for putting up displays and do not stand on chairs and tables!
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Carolyn will respond to any requests.
Link for logging incidents on CPOMS. If it's urgent - see Carolyn (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Jane (Deputy DSL) immediately. If they're not available please see MK or GW.

✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.
✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
