STAFF MEETING - SHARING BEST PRACTICE Part of next week's staff meeting is going to be each teacher sharing with the rest of the staff a successful way they've used their visualiser this past term. This could be an example of work completed in class, a particular strategy or a tip for other users. You can either discuss with everyone show something. Maximum of 5 minutes per person.
DISCIPLINARY POLICY AND PRECEDURE - VARIATION TO CONTRACT All letters have now been handed out. Please ensure you complete the reply sheet and pass it to the office.
NO ENTRY INTO THE OFFICE A reminder that this has been updated on the risk assessment. Use the hatch where possible.
POSITIVE PARKFIELD I'd just like to let you know how proud I was when walking around the school on Thursday morning. Every class was engaged in their learning, children were happy, routines and rules have been established and are being followed, behaviour was outstanding the atmosphere across the school was incredibly positive. That's down to each and every member of staff. Well done.
TEACHING ASSISTANT APPRAISALS TA appraisals are going to be completed over the next month. The idea is to review last years targets - which may not have been met due to covid - which is fine. Targets will also be set for the coming year. This year, some teachers will be taking responsibility for the appraisals of TAs within their classes and they'll arrange a time to conduct the meeting. MK, GW or JS will be conducting the other appraisals. The meetings need no preparation and should last for no longer than 20 minutes.
SIGN UP MRS W Hi everyone - I'd like to come and be your helper in your English and reading lesson. I will be at your beck and call and you can use me in your lesson. For example, I could be directed to be supporting a small group of your choice within the class. I'll be wearing my 3ply mask and will sanitise before and after. I'd like to go in all the classes from R-Y6. Don't worry, you don't need to prepare anything 'extra' for me, just keep it as the normal lesson that you would usually teach etc. I'll put a sign up sheet in the staffroom - so just sign me up. I hope that it is a positive and supportive experience for all to share the true flavour of every day Parkfield. :)
SEMH Thank you for the positive feedback from the staff meeting - we hope that it was useful. Remember: you have permission to focus on SEMH when you feel that it is needed. Also, appreciate and be kind to yourselves. Nurture will not be questioned at Parkfield :)

SELF-CALMING AND RELAXATION STRATEGIES
Deep belly breathing: Sit in an upright position. Place your hands on your belly and take a deep breath in through your nose for four counts. Then exhale through your mouth for four counts. Feel your belly rise and fall. Repeat for a few minutes.
Bubble breathing: Imagine you are outside blowing bubbles, hold your tub of bubbles, dip your bubble stick in, take a deep breath and blow as many bubbles as you can.
Play peaceful, relaxing music: Encourage children to focus on their breathing while they listen.
Practise muscle relaxation: Sit in an upright position or lie on the floor. Squeeze the muscles in the top of your legs, hold for three seconds, and let them go limp. Repeat for different parts of the body: imagine you’re holding an orange and squeezing all the juice out with your hands. Stretch your arms out in front of you as if you are trying to catch something. Move your shoulders up to your ears. Pull in your tummy muscles. Wrinkle up your face. Relax your whole body as if you’re a rag doll.
Do some yoga: Research has shown that yoga can help to improve children’s emotional regulation, mood and resilience. There are a range of videos on YouTube that you can use to practise yoga with children.
PE CHALLENGE it's in the hall!
EXTRA PE LESSONS please carry these out and have fun :)
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK Non of us, including me-,ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together, we can do something wonderful. Mother Theresa.

TWILIGHTS We have 2 twilight sessions coming up after Christmas. Save the dates: Tuesday 12th January and Monday 18th January. Both dates are from 3.30 - 5.30pm and will be via zoom. The sessions are going to specifically for subject leaders. As a result not all staff are requied to attend. A separate email will be sent with further details. For info, this means that all 5 INSET days for this year are complete.
IEPs are due within the next week please. If you need any help just see Gemma or Jane.
Health and Safety
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Safeguarding
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
