LFD TESTING The self tests do not have to be taken next Wednesday but should be taken before we return back to school on Monday 22nd February. For those that aren't aware, if you sign up to the testing website inputting your results is much quicker as most details are saved. https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result
WATER BOTTLES It may sound like a trivial thing but we need to maintain our high expectations and standards and ensure that all pupils use a Parkfield water bottle. Also, please don't allow them to bring juice in their water bottles. For a limited period after half term we'll even provide them for free for those that require a new bottle.
SCHOOL CLOSED If you want, the school building will be open on Monday and Friday (9am - 3pm) but you'll need to remember your fobs to get in.
TOM SHERRINGTON TRAINING I hope you enjoyed yesterday's training and found it useful. Please make sure you provide feedback on the course by clicking the link on the email sent or use the link found below.
THANKS to all those members of staff that have covered over the past couple of weeks - particularly yesterday. Your support is really appreciated and valued. It proves what a great team we have because not many schools could confidently put their TA's in charge of classes at the scale we did yesterday. Thank you.
POLICY UPDATES For info, a number of policies have been updated on the staff drive and will continue to be updated over the next couple of months. We'll highlight to you any major policy changes when you need to know.
VALENTINES STAFF ZOOM Is at 8pm tonight. Thank you to those that have kindly contributed to the games. It should be lots of fun and laughs. Please check your emails for the link :)
INSET - TUESDAY 23rd FEBRUARY The second session of subject leader training is going to take place the first Tuesday back after half term. We've also been able to change the timing from 2.30pm - 4.30pm. We'll cover in a similar way to yesterday if possible. Thanks in advance to all the TAs in advance for your support. Any issues, please speak to MK or GW.
ENJOY YOUR WELL DESERVED HALF TERM At the beginning of this half term, it felt like a huge mountain that we would have to climb, but as always we have pulled together as a team and made it! Well done everyone, it just goes to show that Team Parkfield can handle anything!
VALENTINE'S VIDEO Well done and thanks to Mrs Price for putting together and to everyone that joined in with the Parkfield 'Valentine's' video. I'm sure the school community will love it as much as the staff and children have when it's shared with them on Twitter and in today's newsletter.
DISPLAYS A reminder to please update your displays in the hall and shared areas - thank you!
SIGN OF THE WEEK ‘house’/’home’. (Where we will be spending most of next week at.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zq1X1VO5z4 Make a roof shape with hands and slide them downwards.
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK What if “school” was written without a “s” and “h” That would be cool
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
RETRIEVAL PRACTICE WEBSITE Some interesting research papers and practical guidance can be found here: https://www.retrievalpractice.org/library
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
WORLD BOOK DAY- THURSDAY 4th MARCH - ADVANCED WARNING! Dressing Up: we would like our children and staff to have the opportunity to dress up this year whether at home or at school. They can dress up as a book character, in any fancy dress, or just in their own clothes (non-uniform).Lessons: the timetable for the lessons will be different for that day and will be off the usual timetable. New Zoom links and timings will be uploaded on to Showbie etc for that specific day, nearer to the time. Each teacher/staff member will be asked to read a story for ten minutes of their choice, if they want to. There will be a sign up sheet and any year group can access it from home. School classes will want to choose a couple to watch that day too. The work set for the day will be to create your own books. They will have a stimulus in class, will create a short story, a front cover, illustrations etc etc. More detailed info to be given at the time.
SHOWBIE AND ZOOM Please continue to check when children have been missing from Zoom lessons and if they have not uploaded any work to Showbie. If this is the case then they are 'missing' so please alert Gemma or Jane.
MATHLETICS Remember to plan a Mathletics lesson in- a very useful resource :)
NATALIE is available for displays and admin jobs around school. She'd very very grateful to be kept busy.
TWITTER Please keep on tweeting the amazing work you're doing. It's great to see and is a quick way to demonstrate to parents and the school community the work taking place across the school.
COURSE FEEDBACK A reminder for all staff that if you attend a course (even via zoom) please can you complete the online form feeding back on how useful the course was. This is our way at school of tracking the impact of any training attended and also highlights what may need sharing with other staff in the school. The link is below but can also be found as a button near the bottom of every newsletter. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAJYp2DQ8_3IF4CbUroJyoboOayyqBkiFv_BsFl3PWQQmQmA/viewform?usp=sf_link
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Mrs Whalen (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Miss Steele (Deputy DSL)
If they're not available please see Mr Kemp.
✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
