THIS WEEK'S NEWS

Y6 SATs WEEK Good Luck to the Y6 children for next week. The hall will be used for all SATS tests taking place in the mornings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. Other info:
- Staff members will be used as readers: SH, TS, ES and SN with JB and MK administering the tests
- Y6 will be in earlier in their class from 8.15am.
- Assemblies will not be taking place from Monday - Thursday.
KNOWLEDGE ORGANISERS Simon has started on a templates for knowledge organisers as some are difficult to find online. They can be found in O:\2019-2020. They're not compulsory at the moment and you can still download copies from the Internet. However, over time we will try and get a more consistent format.
TEACHER APPOINTMENTS Following Wednesday's interviews, we have successfully appointed two new teachers for September, meaning that classes will be:
- Reception - Mrs Gooding
- Year 1 - Gemma Price
- Year 2 - Miss Cummins
- Year 3 - Mrs Bradwell
- Year 4 - Ben Howson
- Year 5 - Mrs Acil
- Year 6 - Mr Barnes

This is STC if we get any last minute changes! We will let the paretns and children know after the half term regarding the classes teachers will be in.

Our new SLT will consist of Mr Kemp (Headteacher), Mrs Whalen (Deputy), Mrs Bracken (Business Manager) and Mrs Steele (DSL). As part of developing middle leadership, we will also be appointing two of our current teachers to join for an initial 12 month period, on an unpaid basis. Advertisements have been distributed to all teachers with a deadline of 20th May for applications.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 2019-20 MK will be speaking to all staff individually before Tues 2nd July (transition day) to discuss roles and responsibilities in readiness for September.

MATHS MASTERY Thanks to all that took part in Laura's training yesterday. If you haven't done so already, please feedback using the link below. From the triaing, see examples of greater depth challenge questions below.
STAFF MEETING We will now be discussing the tweaking/developing of our own Parkfield way of approaching teaching and learning after half-term once our new curriculum site has finished being filled with objectives.
PUPIL PROGRESS MEETINGS Thanks to all teachers that have completed the meetings and got their paperwork back to me. Please ensure you share the information with the other adults in the class.
ADVANCED WARNING Our staff meeting on the final week of this half term is going to be writing moderation and it will take place on the Tuesday with Parish and Hollin. This time we'll be looking at children working at 'expected'. More info will follow.
CURRICULUM OBJECTIVES Huge thanks to teachers for yesterdays efforts with getting on lots of information onto our new online curriculum. We will be continuing this next polling day. If you'd like to do any more in the mean time the site is as follows: https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
POLLING DAY - EUROPEAN ELECTIONS We will be closed to pupils on the 23rd May 2019. All staff will be expected in school as it is a working day. More information about what we will be doing on the day will follow.
PSHCE RESOURCES JS has acquired a new PSHCE scheme, resources for which can be found in O:\PSHCE
FIRE DRILL will now be completed when we get back after Easter! Please remind the children of the procedure and let any new staff know what is expected.

TEACHING AND LEARNING

TEST PAPERS SENT HOME Can all classes, except Y2, send home tests once they have been completed and used for assessments/intervention/QLA purposes. There's no use in keeping tests afterward, but parents can use them to support their children .
MATHS TESTS Once you've completed the two papers please record results onto SIMS. All tests are on the staff drive.
READING HALF TERMLY TESTS are due to be completed and results input onto SIMS. These will be the relevant Bug Club tests.
READING BOOK BANDS Please record on SIMS the current book band of all children in your class. Teachers, please ask TA's to complete the task.
MONITORING We're still on catch up !

REMINDERS

WAGE SLIPS will be emailed to a personal email address from the summer. Karen will be asking for emails over the Summer term. Any questions, speak to Karen.
BEHAVIOR INCIDENTS / YELLOW / RED CARDS Updated cards are now in the staffroom. These can be filled in by any member of staff. Once filled in they need to be passed to the school office who will record the incident onto SIMS. It is the class teachers responsibility to ensure it's given to the office and recorded. The new 'behaviour incident' slips are for those occasions that don't warrant a yellow card but the incident needs logging.

A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.
If you have any concerns regarding IEP's please speak to Gemma asap.

Health and Safety

LANYARDS WHEN DRIVING A request from Governors. Due to information in the news recently, governors have shared their concerns of driving whilst wearing lanyards and asked staff to be mindful of the potential accidents if you wear a lanyard and the damage that can be caused if you have an accident. For example, people have been injured if an airbag has gone off and there have been keys on a lanyard. LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.

Safeguarding

If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a yellow pass.

Pupil Voice

TURTLE COMPETITION The eco council will continue monitoring the class bins for recycling. A class each will be announced as a winner with the class in the lead at the end of the each half term will get a whole class reward.

Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.

Subject Leader Time Request

Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Carolyn will respond to any requests.

CPOMS

Link for logging incidents on CPOMS. If it's urgent - see Carolyn (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Jane (Deputy DSL) immediately. If they're not available please see MK or GW.

✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.

✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE

✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.

✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.

✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .

✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.

✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
