- STAFF MEETING NEXT WEEK All teachers will have received an email with the information for next week's meeting - taking place on Tuesday! If you have any questions, please speak to MK.
- THURSDAY POLLING School is closed to all pupils yet all staff are expected to be in school. Please can all teachers and TA's meet in the Y6 classroom at 9am.
- TA2s After half term TA's in KS2 will be moving down year groups. (ES-Y5, SN-Y4, LG-Y3). Although it's not ideal, it does give a opportunity to improve transition for the children and ensures staff are well prepared for intervention in September.
- READING TESTS The half termly reading bug club test is to be completed by all pupils in Y1-6 next week. Results must be recorded onto SIMS. Tests can be sent home once marked and analysed for areas of improvement.
- SPELLING BEE FINALISTS Please choose 10 from each primary phase using the tests and let MK know their names before next Friday. The finalists will be an invite for their parents to attend and also the spellings that will come up in the Spelling Bee final. This year our top 3 pupils from the Y5/6 final will be competing against pupils from Parish and Hollin in a special PiraMidd final.
- SAFEGUARDING As part of our commitment to keeping children safe, we are proud to be part of Operation Encompass. Operation Encompass is a unique Police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse. Being part of Encompass means our school will receive a notification from Greater Manchester Police before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved in or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous day. The information is given in confidence to the school's Key Adult and will enable us to provide the best possible support for the child. The Key Adults at our school are Miss Steele and myself. If you have any questions or wish to know more about our involvement in Operation Encompass, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

- NEW OFSTED FRAMEWORK The summary of responses to the proposed changes was published this week (read here). Short monitoring inspections for 'good' schools like us (which take place approximately every four years) will be increased from one day to two days, although the proposed half-day on-site preparation for inspectors won't be going ahead - it will just be done over the telephone like at the moment. If a school shows sufficient evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school may be judged outstanding, it will be informed that its next inspection will be a full section 5 inspection, which will typically take place within one to two years after the publication of the short inspection report.
- BOOK ORDERS FOR 2019-20 Please can teachers get orders to MK asap
- LEARNING ENVIRONMENT MK/CJP will be monitoring how effective it is at supporting the Parkfield ethos.
- ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 2019-20 MK will be speaking to all staff individually before Tues 2nd July (transition day) to discuss roles and responsibilities in readiness for September.
- STAFF MEETING We will now be discussing the tweaking/developing of our own Parkfield way of approaching teaching and learning after half-term once our new curriculum site has finished.

- TEST PAPERS SENT HOME Can all classes, except Y2, send home tests once they have been completed and used for assessments/intervention/QLA purposes. There's no use in keeping tests afterward, but parents can use them to support their children .
- MONITORING We're still on catch up !
- OUR VISION FOR MATHS See screenshots below showing a guide for how we would like maths lessons to be structured, although this doesn't need to be followed exactly each lesson.

REMINDERS
- KNOWLEDGE ORGANISERS Simon has started on a templates for knowledge organisers as some are difficult to find online. They can be found in O:\2019-2020. They're not compulsory at the moment and you can still download copies from the Internet. However, over time we will try and get a more consistent format.
- TEACHER APPOINTMENTS September, meaning that classes will be:
- Reception - Mrs Gooding
- Year 1 - Mrs Gemma Price
- Year 2 - Miss Cummins
- Year 3 - Mrs Bradwell
- Year 4 - Mr Ben Howson
- Year 5 - Mrs Acil
- Year 6 - Mr Barnes
This is STC if we get any last minute changes! We will let the paretns and children know after the half term regarding the classes teachers will be in.
Our new SLT will consist of Mr Kemp (Headteacher), Mrs Whalen (Deputy), Mrs Bracken (Business Manager) and Mrs Steele (DSL). As part of developing middle leadership, we will also be appointing two of our current teachers to join for an initial 12 month period, on an unpaid basis. Advertisements have been distributed to all teachers with a deadline of 20th May for applications.
- WAGE SLIPS will be emailed to a personal email address from the summer. Karen will be asking for emails over the Summer term. Any questions, speak to Karen.
- BEHAVIOR INCIDENTS / YELLOW / RED CARDS Updated cards are now in the staffroom. These can be filled in by any member of staff. Once filled in they need to be passed to the school office who will record the incident onto SIMS. It is the class teachers responsibility to ensure it's given to the office and recorded. The new 'behaviour incident' slips are for those occasions that don't warrant a yellow card but the incident needs logging.
- BAR MODELLING REMINDER
- Spring and Summer: One session per week taught to targeted pupils
- WB 23rd April: Review of intervention/additional support and training (if required)
- WB 8th July: Targeted pupils complete assessment to see impact of intervention.
Inclusion
- A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.
- If you have any concerns regarding IEP's please speak to Gemma asap.
Health and Safety
- LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
- Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Safeguarding
- Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Carolyn or Jane.
- If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
- Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
- Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a yellow pass.
Pupil Voice
- TURTLE COMPETITION The eco council will continue monitoring the class bins for recycling. A class each will be announced as a winner with the class in the lead at the end of the each half term will get a whole class reward.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Carolyn will respond to any requests.

✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.
✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
