- CREATIVE WRITING WEEK A reminder that the theme for the week is narrative writing with the stimulus to the writing as the theme tune from 'Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves'. The children won't know the film so please don't tell them! Monday's assembly will start with the music and questioning children about what may be happening. The week will end with children going to different classes and reading to each other their stories. Please note that topic and intervention time may be used for creative writing week. Any questions, please speak to GW.
- NO PENS WEDNESDAY It's going to be a challenge but it's going to make the day interesting! We'll start with a special assembly explaining to the children what the day is all about. - DINNER ROTA We've had to tweak the KS1 and one-one dinner rota this week. So - for information: Maria is now working until 1.30pm in the hall alongside Oliveah. Ruth will support children from 12.00 - 1.15pm. Laura supports children from 12-1pm. Candice supports a child from 12.00 - 12.45, Natalie will support children one-one from 12.45-1.15, Hayley supports one-one children from 1pm. Becky supports from 12.15-12.45, with Thomas supporting from 12.45 - 1.15pm. Simple!! :)
- LOCK DOWN DRILL The drill on Tuesday went well with the children reacting positively to the experience. We are aware of a few issues but please let MK know if you have any questions or concerns.
- CINEMA NIGHT Huge thanks to all staff that supported Tuesday's movie night. Your support was really appreciated.
- MATHS DROP-INS FEEDBACK All parents found these incredibly useful and enjoyed the experience. Thanks to teachers for your efforts. These kind of events help build up that parent-teacher relationship and encourages parents to take a more active role in their child's learning. Another success...so well done.
- CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS will be distributed on Friday morning...can you believe it's that time of the year!!
- TA APPRAISALS will continue next week with GW and MK. Appraisals should take no longer than 30 minutes and will involve a discussion about last year's targets and any professional/personal development for the coming year. There's no need to prepare anything and unlike teachers, they're not linked to pay!! Please sign up on the relevant timetable displayed in the staff room.
- 2ESKIMOS You may see TAs over the next few weeks trialling a new reading assessment on the iPads. Once we are used to the system we'll show everyone how to carry out the assessments. They can be used from Reception to Year 6 and they give a reading age, reading rate, book band and whether they're reading below, at or above age related expectations.
- Y4 TIMES TABLES CHECK We will be taking part voluntarily in June 2019 and it then becomes statutory from 2020. Children will be given 6 seconds to answer 25 questions each on a computer from the 2-12 times tables, with the harder tables appearing most often. - MISS BANKS will be joining us in Y3 on a Thursday morning.
- FORFEIT DAY The second of 3 forfeit days is next week. Please remind your children! KS1 and KS2 - Bottles.
- ADVANCED WARNING: TEACHER ASSESSMENTS AND EFFORT GRADES are due onto the system in 4 Fridays! (Friday 14th December). Autumn term reports - with photocopied target sheets will be sent out on Thursday 20th December.

- STAFF MEETING next week is going to be looking at the school improvement plan and each subject leader is to present to the team what they're going to be doing over the next 12 months. I think it's incredibly important for everyone to be aware of what is happening across the school.
- TEACHER CPD For all this half term, every Thursday, we've organised for teachers to visit Boarshaw. You'll be visiting the corresponding class and we hope the visit allows you to share ideas with the Boarshaw teachers. They'll be joining us in the Spring. Don't forget to complete a 'visit feedback' form.
- MATHS I do, we do, you do…a reminder from staff meeting.

- @PIRAMIDDWRITING Please continue to tweet examples of writing to share across the collaborative - particularly during creative writing week.
- DISCRETIONARY LEAVE It is vital that you fill in any paperwork requesting any time off as soon as possible. This helps us keep track of discretionary leave and plan cover if required.
- NO PHOTOGRAPHS ON PERSONAL EQUIPMENT Although it rarely happens, to protect ourselves can we ensure we don't take photographs using our personal mobile phones. We are amending our policy in light of some information from the local authority. It will ensure that we are all safeguarded against allegations and although it can be a hassle having to use iPads at sporting fixtures/trips/residentials...etc it will help protect us all. We will just have to upload photos to Twitter when we get back from school or use our mobile phones as a 'hotspot' if we want to send the images instantly.
- SPENDING A reminder that we are having to be incredibly frugal at the minute.
- STAFF DROP INS There is now a link near the bottom of this bulletin for staff to record drop ins. You no longer have to record on paper. This will help us keep things collated.
- EARLY BIRDS AND BUSY BEES If a parent requests any changes to bookings made for Early Birds of Busy Bees please send them to the office to organise. For example, if they tell you they don’t need Busy Bees that day then they will still be charged as they need to give two weeks’ notice.
- YELLOW AND RED CARDS need to be recorded on SIMS. Please speak to MK if you require any support.
Inclusion
- A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.
- If you have any concerns regarding IEP's please speak to Gemma asap.
Health and Safety
- LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
- Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Carolyn will respond to any requests.

✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.
✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
