THIS WEEK'S NEWS

POETRY MORNING ORGANISATION
- There will be no morning assembly first thing.
- Resources to help you plan your poetry morning can be found under O:\English\Poetry .
- The showcase assembly (all staff in) will be at 11am, with classes performing in the order Rec-Y6. Please just get a handful of your children up to keep it running efficiently.

DEPUTY HEAD APPOINTMENT Congratulations to GW for being successful in her interview!
EASTER OPENING School will be open over Easter - Alan is coming in throughout the two weeks.
SPRING TERM REPORTS will be sent home on the second day back. Grades must be inputted onto SIMS by 9am on Tuesday morning so the reports can be printed out... and put in envelopes with the targets.
ACHIEVEMENT ASSEMBLY is going to be on Wednesday morning when prize draws will be done too.
CURRICULUM OVERVIEWS need to be on the Staff Drive by 5pm on Thursday 25th April.
LEARNING LOGS should be sent out for the First Friday back after Easter.
PPA DAYS Due to the Bank holidays and polling day coming up this next half term, I've attempted to move PPA days around so that there's an even spread for everyone across the school.
HUMANITIES DAY Thank you to Zara for organising Humanities day and to everyone else for putting on a memorable day for our children. There will be a pupil and staff questionnaire to follow.
SCIENCE PLANNING EXPECTATIONS As discussed in Wednesday's staff meeting, updated science investigation planning sheets and slides, along with links to the concept cartoons and on-screen simulations, can be found under O:\Science\Investigations. Working scientifically should take place across a topic and remember that you can often just focus on one or two different stages of an investigation each time. Thanks to NB and SH for helping create these resources.
FIRE DRILL will now be completed when we get back after Easter! Please remind the children of the procedure and let any new staff know what is expected.
POLLING DAY The current plan is for all staff to be in on Polling day. If this changes, we will let you know!
TA2 INTERVENTION MEETING We hope you found the meeting useful and if you have any further questions, please speak to GW.
VACANCIES As discussed after school on Friday, there will soon be two teacher vacancies on the council jobs website.

HAPPY EASTER! After a very busy term that included: a residential, a few trips, World Book Day, Red Nose Day, Humanities Day, two big interviews, a flood and lots of other events, enjoy your 17-day holiday!

TEACHING AND LEARNING

TEACHER ASSESSMENT AND EFFORT GRADES Due to the flooding, I am moving the deadline back a week to Friday 5th April (last day). Spring term reports will then be sent out the first Wednesday back on Wednesday 24th April. This gives the time needed to complete any assessments and target sheets can be copied in the final week of term.
TEST PAPERS SENT HOME Can all classes, except Y2, send home tests once they have been completed and used for assessments/intervention/QLA purposes. There's no use in keeping tests afterward, but parents can use them to support their children .
MATHS TESTS Once you've completed the two papers please record results onto SIMS. All tests are on the staff drive.
READING HALF TERMLY TESTS are due to be completed and results input onto SIMS. These will be the relevant Bug Club tests.
READING BOOK BANDS Please record on SIMS the current book band of all children in your class. Teachers, please ask TA's to complete the task.
MONITORING We're still on catch up now!

OUR VISION FOR MATHS See screenshots below showing a guide for how we would like maths lessons to be structured, although this doesn't need to be followed exactly each lesson - Laura liked how each teacher personalised their lessons unlike her own school which are more regimented.

REMINDERS

WAGE SLIPS will be emailed to a personal email address from the summer. Karen will be asking for emails over the Summer term. Any questions, speak to Karen.
BEHAVIOR INCIDENTS / YELLOW / RED CARDS Updated cards are now in the staffroom. These can be filled in by any member of staff. Once filled in they need to be passed to the school office who will record the incident onto SIMS. It is the class teachers responsibility to ensure it's given to the office and recorded. The new 'behaviour incident' slips are for those occasions that don't warrant a yellow card but the incident needs logging.

PE NOMINATION Kids4Kids Award assembly will take place when we get back.

A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.

Health and Safety

LANYARDS WHEN DRIVING A request from Governors. Due to information in the news recently, governors have shared their concerns of driving whilst wearing lanyards and asked staff to be mindful of the potential accidents if you wear a lanyard and the damage that can be caused if you have an accident. For example, people have been injured if an airbag has gone off and there have been keys on a lanyard. LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.

Safeguarding

If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a yellow pass.

Pupil Voice

TURTLE COMPETITION The eco council will continue monitoring the class bins for recycling. A class each will be announced as a winner with the class in the lead at the end of the each half term will get a whole class reward.

Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.

Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Carolyn will respond to any requests.

Link for logging incidents on CPOMS. If it's urgent - see Carolyn (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Jane (Deputy DSL) immediately. If they're not available please see MK or GW.

✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.

✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE

✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.

✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.

✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .

✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.

✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
