ACCELERATED READER ONLINE INTRODUCTION The children from years 2-6 will be doing an online test and then be introduced to a website called 'myon'. It has lots of online books for them to read and quizzes to take. Some of the children have already had their test, but the children at home now need to do it. So we are holding a zoom on Wednesday at 2.30 for all children (2-6) at home and at school. It will be useful for staff to join too, so that you know how to use it.
BASKETS FOR ZPD The accelerated reader online test gives each child a 'ZPD' score. This is a numerical score for their book band that they should be on. As well as reading the online books, they can read 'real' reading books in school that Mrs Gully and her happy helpers have been labelling with the ZPD level. We've ordered some baskets and we'll put them into classes after next week.
AMIE PEARSON Is starting in the office next week. Good luck Amie :)

ANOTHER WEEK DONE :) Well done guys, take one day at a time and keep going. We can do this!
SIGN OF THE WEEK this week’s sign is ‘careful’. Please show the children at home and at school. A useful sign with all the ice and slippery paths at the moment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qGn-9RtmGg Using both hands, touch face with thumb and index finger. Move slowly away from face in downward motion.
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK Why are mountains always tired? Because they don't Everest. so don't be a mountain, make sure you guys get some well deserved rest this weekend :)
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
RETRIEVAL PRACTICE WEBSITE Some interesting research papers and practical guidance can be found here: https://www.retrievalpractice.org/library
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
TWITTER Please keep on tweeting the amazing work you're doing. It's great to see and is a quick way to demonstrate to parents and the school community the work taking place across the school.
ANDY HELLON We are having a collection for Joshua. Andy would like to purchase a bench of some sort to remember Joshua by. Please transfer your contribution to Mrs Mullane. Thank you.
COURSE FEEDBACK A reminder for all staff that if you attend a course (even via zoom) please can you complete the online form feeding back on how useful the course was. This is our way at school of tracking the impact of any training attended and also highlights what may need sharing with other staff in the school. The link is below but can also be found as a button near the bottom of every newsletter. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAJYp2DQ8_3IF4CbUroJyoboOayyqBkiFv_BsFl3PWQQmQmA/viewform?usp=sf_link
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
