- EARLY BIRDS Please be mindful that the breakfasts provided is for the children only. Staff may have a breakfast but must put something into the newly set up honesty box found in the staffroom!
- LEARNING LOGS Next week...teachers are to let children in their class share the work they've completed for them in the learning log and those who bring in their books will each receive house points and a certificate from Mr Kemp.
- SECRET SANTA Is coming soon... We've also had a lovely idea to create a charity hamper in the true spirit of Christmas for vulnerable families with wrapped toys, essentials and yummy Christmas food... It would be nice to hear if people were interested in this!
- PARENT'S EVENING A huge thank you to everyone. There was a really positive vibe in the hall and very positive feedback. Well done team Parkfield!
- Y6 CLASS ASSEMBLY was brilliant as always! We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done Year 6 children and their teachers.
- OPEN DAY On Tuesday prospective parents are coming to visit the school throughout the day and will be shown around the classes. The School Councillors will be called upon to do this and they have already been briefed by Mrs Jeffrey as to what to say. I'm sure they will get a feel for Parkfield and our lovely children and great teaching.
- LIBRARY The fiction section of the library is being disbanded and put into classes. This is so the children can change their free reading books in class. This will ultimately be overseen by TAs and some library helpers... More information to follow.
- CALENDAR Please check daily what is happening as we are always subject to last minute unavoidable changes.
- MR BARNES would like to speak with two pupils from each class during Monday's assembly - please send him some!
- SAFEGUARDING Please note that our new Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Gemma Whalen. Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) is Jane Steele. You will still have to let Jane or Gemma know immediately about any safeguarding concerns.
- iPADS Please can ALL ipads be kept permanently in school. There were previously at least two allocated for each class. These need to be made available for the children to use in the classroom everyday. Please be mindful that they are not specifically for home/personal use. If they are at home please bring them in ASAP.
- BADGES Staff badges and visitor badges must be worn at all times without exception. This is the safeguarding law under Ofsted rules. If you see a member of staff, or a non-member of staff without identification in school then we all have a duty of care to challenge them immediately and report it to a member of our safeguarding team. This is outlined in the 'Safeguarding Leaflet' saved in Staff-policy-Sept 2019-Safeguarding leaflet. If you have lost your badge then you must report it straight away as this leaves the school vulnerable to intruders.
- STORAGE CUPBOARD Please could we have some volunteers to spend some time tidying the paper cupboard, just five minutes here and there would be so helpful. Unfortunately, there are a number of items that have been dumped on the floor - whoever it is - please stop!!! We need to be working as part of a team!!
- PHOTOS have been rearranged for Monday for the remaining classes.
- FAMILY RACE NIGHT is here at school 6:30-9:00pm tonight. It would be lovely to see you all there!
- STAFF ICT EQUIPMENT INVENTORY REMINDER Please hand these forms in ASAP detailing what laptop/iPad etc you have.
- THOUGHT OF THE WEEK Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.

- STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings.
- THE PARKFIELD WAY Thanks for your input the other day on the 'Parkfield Pledge' from the 'Parkfield Way' document. - READING AGE TESTS Please input data onto SIMS - any issues please speak with GW.
- PICTURE NEWS A reminder that I will be downloading these every Friday and put them into O:\Curriculum - Picture News (Weekly).

- TEST PAPERS SENT HOME Can all classes, except Y2, send home tests once they have been completed and used for assessments/intervention/QLA purposes. There's no use in keeping tests afterward, but parents can use them to support their children .

- HUMMUS After confirmation with mum, staff are allowed humus but must wash their hands as it can be dangerous for the girl in Reception. We will be working with the school nurse around a risk assessment with Chinese Food.
- KS2 EMOTIONAL LITERACY QUESTIONNAIRES Results have been emailed out.
- CPOMS See KB if you need help logging in.
- NEW WEBSITE Our new school website went live this week - hopefully you'll like the refreshed design and the more streamlined organisation of the menus.
- IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS TO SIGN Every member of staff must sign to acknowledge that you have received and read the documents sent this week. Remember to pass your pecuniary interest declaration forms to KB (if nothing, just write N/A across the table).
- ENCRYPTING EMAILS A reminder that you can encrypt emails that contain GDPR-sensitive content by simply typing in ENCRYPT somewhere in an email's subject.
- GOOGLE CALENDARS We have five different calendars: Parkfield, Staff Info, PPA, Assembly Themes and Staff Development. You can add these to your own Google Calendar by just clicking the '+ Google Calendar' icon on the different calendars embedded into this bulletin.
- IT EQUIPMENT Edit have been in over summer and updated lots of computers to Windows 10. Please remember to fill in the form detailing any equipment you have and pass it to KB - serial numbers of laptops can be found underneath them whilst on iPads they're on the back (or you can go to Settings > General > About which shows it a lot bigger).
Inclusion
- A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.
- If you have any concerns regarding IEP's please speak to Gemma asap.
Health and Safety
- LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
- Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Safeguarding
- Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
- If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
- Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
- Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a yellow pass.
Pupil Voice
- TURTLE COMPETITION The eco council will continue monitoring the class bins for recycling. A class each will be announced as a winner with the class in the lead at the end of the each half term will get a whole class reward.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Gemma will respond to any requests.
Link for logging incidents on CPOMS. If it's urgent - see Jane (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Gemma (Deputy DSL) immediately. If they're not available please see MK.

✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.
✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
