PARENTS EVENING Lots of info has already been sent through. We're hoping the new system works really well and keeps meetings succinct. Good luck with them and any questions - please ask. The site to login is: https://parkfieldprimary.schoolcloud.co.uk/
STAFF LEADERSHIP TIME Please save any monitoring/evidence gathered in the following folder - O:\Staff - Monitoring & Evaluation\20-21. This way, we can keep all the information together in one place.
TEACHER ASSESSMENTS Please note that teacher assessments for reading, writing and maths are due on the SIMS marksheets next Friday 30th April. These will then support the pupil progress meetings that will be taking place the following week or two.
POLLING DAY - THURSDAY 6th MAY A reminder to all that school will be closed on polling day and all staff will be working from home that day. There will be a zoom meeting between 9.30am and 10.30am on the day for 'most' staff. Work is to be set for children on the day - this can be mathletics / myON / LbQ
LEARNING LOGS Thanks for getting these sent out this week. Please keep reminding children to complete the tasks and bring them back the last week of this half term.
CURRICULUM OVERVIEWS Thanks for completing and ensuring they're all up to date on the school website.
SIGN OF THE WEEK This week sign is Dragon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPkb9Nhxe5A
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK Working in a school is a lot like being a Rockstar. You work hard to keep the attention of a distracted crowd. Your fans freak out when they see you in public. Groupies line up to follow you everywhere. You hear your name being called out all of the time.
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
RETRIEVAL PRACTICE WEBSITE Some interesting research papers and practical guidance can be found here: https://www.retrievalpractice.org/library
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
ZPD NUMBERS Please explain to children how they use 'decimal numbers' to check that they understand HOW to choose a book that is in their ZPD range. We will circulate a poster to be displayed near your bookshelf, which may also help any children who are struggling with decimal numbers.
POLLING DAY - THURSDAY 6th MAY You will be aware that we will be closed to pupils on Thursday 6th May. I'm also not expecting staff into school on the day this year because the public will be in the building. On the day pupils can be set work on myOn and Mathletics. There will be a staff zoom call from 9.15am - 10.15am with the remainder of the day for additional admin time, PPA and subject leadership.
PHONICS AND READING Gemma W will be popping into classes to support with phonics or guided reading. It is to ensure we have a whole school approach in place and therefore identifying, what we are doing and where we are going next. Thank you.
STAFF MEETING, MONITORING AND CPD OVERVIEW is now accessible by clicking here. It lets you know the focus for staff meetings, monitoring and CPD across the year. As it's subject to change this live document will make it easier to share with others. We'll create a link on the bulletin so you always have access.
PARENTS EVENING Advanced warning that it is now going to take place on Wednesday 28th April between 3.30 and 7.00pm.
LFD TESTING Please continue to take the tests and submit your results to https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result . Karen Slatford needs to know about any tests that come back as inconclusive.
DISPLAYS A polite reminder to please update your displays in the hall and shared areas - thank you!
TWITTER Please keep on tweeting the amazing work you're doing. It's great to see and is a quick way to demonstrate to parents and the school community the work taking place across the school.
COURSE FEEDBACK A reminder for all staff that if you attend a course (even via zoom) please can you complete the online form feeding back on how useful the course was. This is our way at school of tracking the impact of any training attended and also highlights what may need sharing with other staff in the school. The link is below but can also be found as a button near the bottom of every newsletter. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAJYp2DQ8_3IF4CbUroJyoboOayyqBkiFv_BsFl3PWQQmQmA/viewform?usp=sf_link
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Mrs Whalen (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Miss Steele (Deputy DSL)
If they're not available please see Mr Kemp.
✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
