PARENT'S EVENING Takes place on Wednesday via school cloud. The logins 'should' be the same as last time - any issues - please check well before the evening. The conversations should be mainly around maths, reading (phonics) and writing. There are only 4 minutes and 40 seconds per conversation so keep it brief. Remember to:
Focus on what the strengths are and what they need to do to improve.
Explain what you're doing to support their child in making the best possible progress.
Explain how parents at home can support.
Not mention something that needs a longer time to talk about - a separate meeting may be required.
Not surprise parents - for example, letting a parent know about their child's persistantly poor behaviour - this should have been addressed earlier in the term/year.
Finish what is being said in the time limit - parent's/carers hate being cut off.
RWI PHONICS ASSESSMENTS will be completed early next week for pupils in Rec, Y1 and Y2.
INSET is taking place on Friday 18th February for all staff. School will be closed to all pupils. A full programme of the day will be shared next week. A reminder that any member of staff working with the authority for over 5 years gets paid for the day.
THANK YOU AGAIN to all those that have covered for absent colleagues over the past week. It is really appreciated and proves what a fabulous team we have at Parkfield.
DINNER TIMES CHANGES Starting from Monday the new times for dinners are going to be as follows. Reception - 12pm, Y1 - 12.10pm and Y2 - 12.15pm. Now they're a bit quicker at eating it gives each class that little extra learning time in the morning. Any issues, please speak to MK.
VALENTINES DISCO HELP The school council (thanks Debs) have organised two Valentines disco's on Monday 14th (KS2) and Tuesday 15th (KS1) February between 3.15pm and 4.15pm. Those pupils attending can come to school dressed for the disco and there is a maximum of 60 tickets available each night. If you're able to attend and support at either of the events it would be much appreciated.
BEHAVIOUR REPORTING It is vital that all yellow and red cards are recorded on SIMS. This is used to monitor behaviour at the school and procides evidence for governors and OFSTED about the behaviour and attitude of pupils at Parkfield. Do not forget to report and please ask if you need reminding on how to update.
CPOMS CPOMS isn't used just to report safeguarding incidents but provides school with a useful tool to track communication. This s a reminder that CPOMS is to be used for record conversations with parents that may be of some concern or may require a follow up in future. There is a tick box for 'SEN' and 'Parent communication'.
TEACHER DROP INS For the remainder of the term, we would like teachers to drop in on each other's maths lessons. Like previous, it only needs to be a short drop in but with an agreed focus. Please arrange it between yourselves and feedback is to be given on the staff drop in form (link found at the bottom of this bulletin)
MUSIC TEAM TEACH Carolyn Hartley will be organising Music Team Teach sessions over the next few weeks for those that deliver music lessons. The idea is to share good practice and raise standards in music. CH will contact those involved.
NATIONAL COLLEGE You have all been emailed about Fire Safety Training. All staff must complete this before the end of this half term. All staff should have also now completed PREVENT and FIRST AID training.
STAFF MEETING next week is Parent's Evening.
FRIDAY FORUM will take place on Thursday - due to the Y5 class assembly. The focus is Maths led by Gemma Price.
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
RETRIEVAL PRACTICE WEBSITE Some interesting research papers and practical guidance can be found here: https://www.retrievalpractice.org/library
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
STAFF CPD, MEETINGS, MONITORING..ETC Spring term has been updated and can be found on the usual link below and here: https://parkfieldprimary-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/mkemp_parkfield_rochdale_sch_uk/EZTDcHecvX5Kud9HcZXVpg0BGDLeDWSBi4K4KvOJKnYA3A?e=bfdzuI
REMOTE LEARNING If any of your pupils are isolating, please remember to set work on Showbie for them. Although it's not an expectation, it's been great to see some teachers delivering lessons via zoom to those at home. This is obviously easier for some classes than others.
WHITE ROSE HUB DIGITAL RESOURCES Please check out these interactive resources that WRH have created https://whiterosemaths.com/digital-tools/ .
COURSE FEEDBACK A reminder for all staff that if you attend a course (even via zoom) please can you complete the online form feeding back on how useful the course was. This is our way at school of tracking the impact of any training attended and also highlights what may need sharing with other staff in the school. The link is below but can also be found as a button near the bottom of every bulletin. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAJYp2DQ8_3IF4CbUroJyoboOayyqBkiFv_BsFl3PWQQmQmA/viewform?usp=sf_link
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane, Marc or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Mrs Whalen (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Miss Steele (Deputy DSL)
If they're not available please see Mr Kemp.
✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
