THIS WEEK'S NEWS

NEXT FRIDAY: Red Nose Day / Rock your Socks It will be a non uniform day where children will be asked to wear odd socks and come with wacky hair! As the two events are so close together we will be combining the two and funds will be split between Comic Relief and World Down Syndrome Day.
LYNN Good luck in your new career and thank you so much for all the positive contributions you have made to the school over the past ten years. I don't think there are any classes you haven't worked in or members of staff you haven't worked alongside. Thanks for all your hard work - you will be missed by all the pupils and staff.
THANK YOU To everyone who has helped out this week with the book fairs, bake-off competition and on World Book Day.
LAUREN is also leaving us today. Thanks to Lauren for your efforts at dinner times since joining in September.
SUPPLY TA There will be a supply TA in Y3 until SATS. She will do the timetable that Lynn does (i.e. class and dinnertime) After that, we're planning on having a little swap around with KS2 TA's.
LEGO CLUB on Tuesday's will now be covered by Jane Steele until the end of term.
CARETAKER Mr Henson will be returning as our caretaker from Monday April 1st (Dave finishes the end of March.)
WAGE SLIPS will be emailed to your work email address from the summer. Any questions, speak to Karen.
DEPUTY HEAD POSITION The position has been advertised and the closing date for applicants is 12pm on 28th March. There has already been some interested and you may see MK showing prosepective candidates around school over the next few weeks.
ENGLISH DROP INS for parents will take place in a couple of weeks. It was originally planned for next week. The focus will be reading.
TEACHER APPRAISALS Thanks to those that have had their appraisals this week. There are a few to catch up on next week. They're on the calendar!

OUR VISION FOR MATHS See screenshots below showing a guide for how we would like maths lessons to be structured, although this doesn't need to be followed exactly each lesson - Laura liked how each teacher personalised their lessons unlike her own school which are more regimented.

REMINDERS

BEHAVIOR INCIDENTS / YELLOW / RED CARDS Updated cards are now in the staffroom. These can be filled in by any member of staff. Once filled in they need to be passed to the school office who will record the incident onto SIMS. It is the class teachers responsibility to ensure it's given to the office and recorded. The new 'behaviour incident' slips are for those occasions that don't warrant a yellow card but the incident needs logging.
BAR MODELLING REMINDER
PE NOMINATION In assembly, the children were shown how to nominate another pupil for a Kids4Kids Award. The award is being run by EdStart - our PE providers. Children nominate a pupil that they feel show commitment and attitude to sport. Nominations can also be received from teachers. There are some lovely prizes that can be won - which will announced just before Easter.
EXTRA WEDNESDAY PE LESSONS are now timetabled into the school calendar once every three weeks for classes. I know it's cold but you must give your pupils the opportunity for the extra PE lesson! Planning is available on the staff drive - alternatively, chat to Jenny and she'll let you know where they're up too.

A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.
If you have any concerns regarding IEP's please speak to Gemma asap.

Health and Safety

LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.

Safeguarding

If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a yellow pass.

Pupil Voice

TURTLE COMPETITION The eco council will continue monitoring the class bins for recycling. A class each will be announced as a winner with the class in the lead at the end of the each half term will get a whole class reward.

Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.

Subject Leader Time Request

Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Carolyn will respond to any requests.

CPOMS

Link for logging incidents on CPOMS. If it's urgent - see Carolyn (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Jane (Deputy DSL) immediately. If they're not available please see MK or GW.

✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.

✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE

✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.

✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.

✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .

✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.

✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
