- CAROLYN'S ANNOUNCEMENT For those that haven't read this week's newsletter here's Carolyn's announcement: I met with Governors last night and informed them that after eleven amazing years at Parkfield I shall be resigning as Headteacher in 2019. Over the years there have been millions of moments of happiness & shall miss everyone dearly. But time for a change after 30 years in the profession & I have every confidence that Governors will find an amazing replacement for September 2019.
- REMEMBER, REMEMBER Thank you for all your efforts into making our theme day memorable for the pupils. There were some great activities taking place across the school and the children were really enthused.
- CHILDREN IN NEED is next Friday. Don't they come around quickly! We've asked children, and of course staff are encouraged, to wear something spotty in exchange for a £1 donation to charity.
- CHILDREN IN NEED ASSEMBLY Huge thanks to Mr Barnes who is allowing children to throw (shaving foam) pies at him for CIN. The special assembly takes place at 2.45pm and will obviously impact on the last bit of Fab Friday. I am pretty certain no member of staff is going to miss this one! Thanks Joe! :)
- LOCKDOWN PROCEDURE Thanks for all your questions during the briefings over the past few weeks. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. We'll do our fist drill in a few weeks - we'l do a special assembly beforehand.
- SECRET SANTA is back! Please keep it secret for Karen's sanity!! £10 limit.
- CONGRATULATIONS to Thomas and his wife Sarah on the new arrival of baby Olivia Florence Shearman.

- STAFF MEETING Thanks to teachers for bringing books this week. We'll be conducting 'book looks' throughout the next few weeks to see the impact feedback is having on pupil's learning.
- STAFF MEETING Next week: Writing Moderation. Emails have been sent out with details. A reminder that this time we'll be 'tweeting' and not photocopying. Keep an eye on your emails for further information.
- TEACHER CPD For all this half term, every Thursday, we've organised for teachers to visit Boarshaw. You'll be visiting the corresponding class and we hope the visit allows you to share ideas with the Boarshaw teachers. They'll be joining us in the Spring. Don't forget to complete a 'visit feedback' form.
- MATHS I do, we do, you do…a reminder from staff meeting.
- SCIENCE ENQUIRY The 5 lines of scientific enquiry are: Research, Pattern seeking, Observations over time, Identifying and classifying and Fair Testing. The question you need to ask each lesson is - which of these am I covering?

REMINDERS
- DISCRETIONARY LEAVE It is vital that you fill in any paperwork requesting any time off as soon as possible. This helps us keep track of discretionary leave and plan cover if required.
- NO PHOTOGRAPHS ON PERSONAL EQUIPMENT Although it rarely happens, to protect ourselves can we ensure we don't take photographs using our personal mobile phones. We are amending our policy in light of some information from the local authority. It will ensure that we are all safeguarded against allegations and although it can be a hassle having to use iPads at sporting fixtures/trips/residentials...etc it will help protect us all. We will just have to upload photos to Twitter when we get back from school or use our mobile phones as a 'hotspot' if we want to send the images instantly.
- SPENDING A reminder that we are having to be incredibly frugal at the minute.
- STAFF DROP INS There is now a link near the bottom of this bulletin for staff to record drop ins. You no longer have to record on paper. This will help us keep things collated.
- EARLY BIRDS AND BUSY BEES If a parent requests any changes to bookings made for Early Birds of Busy Bees please send them to the office to organise. For example, if they tell you they don’t need Busy Bees that day then they will still be charged as they need to give two weeks’ notice.
- YELLOW AND RED CARDS need to be recorded on SIMS. Please speak to MK if you require any support.
Inclusion
- A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.
- If you have any concerns regarding IEP's please speak to Gemma asap.
Health and Safety
- LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
- Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Carolyn will respond to any requests.
Link for logging incidents on CPOMS. If it's urgent - see Carolyn (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Jane (Deputy DSL) immediately.
Maths Chase - make up your own times tables game.
✅ Acknowledge all work
✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.
✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
