- EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES Mr Barnes has kindly emailed the following for Monday:
- Each class teacher can choose a different European language to focus on for that morning
- Choose an aspect of geography, language, art, food or music.
- The celebrations will last for the whole morning until lunch with classes off timetable for that morning. TAs please join in with your class!
- There will be an assembly at 9;00am to start everything off.
- Teachers not needed for the assembly.
- As we are seeking to be accredited with the PLQM (Primary Languages Quality Mark) award, please share your amazing morning on Twitter (using #languages and #EDL2019) and share some of your best work with Mr Barnes to put in the portfolio of evidence.
- BUSY BEES A position has become available in Busy Bees to start as soon as possible from 3.15-4.30pm (6.25 hours per week). If you're interested, please speak to MK. If no one can be appointed from within Parkfield we will have to then advertise the position externally.
- TWINKL For some strange reason our Twinkl subscription no longer includes some resources that we used to have access to. They seem to have added a new 'more expensive' level that you can subscribe to that is too expensive. If you'd like to see the resources that we do have access to...see here: https://www.twinkl.co.uk/premium/school/primary
- STAFF ICT EQUIPMENT INVENTORY Please hand these forms in ASAP detailing what laptop/iPad etc you have.
- STAFF MEETING Wednesday's staff meeting is to include subject teams meeting between 3.30pm and 4.00pm to look at and share each others action plans. This should prompt a discussion between teams, potentially give more ideas for moving forward and ensure everyone knows about the action plans in their team. You may want to edit your action plans following these discussions. Between 4.00 and 4.30pm some governors are joining us where you'll be able to share as a team the key actions moving forward with your link governor. Refreshments will be provided!
- BUG CLUB You now have the option to turn on auto progress for your children. When auto progress is activated, Bug Club will suggest a book band for your children, and once you've allocated a band, automatically progress them to the next level once they're ready. Just look for the new 'Allocate Book Bands' option under your Resources menu in ActiveLearn Primary to turn auto progress on today.
- READING BOOKS Just a small reminder that if children have finished reading their colour bookband that we can automatically move them onto the next one. Please don't have children having to read the same book more than once as this is discouraging.
- SUBJECT SUMMARY SHEETS AND ACTION PLANS Thank you to those who have completed these and placed them on the staff drive. If you need any support completing them, please speak to MK or GW.
- PLANNING ON STAFF DRIVE Thanks so much to those members of staff that are regularly saving their planning and flipcharts onto the staff drive. For those that haven't done so, please save them here: O:\Curriculum - Planning\2019-20. Although it is used to monitor what's being delivered across the school, it also helps if someone is absent.
- END OF YEAR DATA AND ANALYSIS has now been completed and is available on the staff drive. Please have a look at your classes data and any analysis/actions that have been identified. You'll notice the new look on 'Powerpoint' which I hope you find easier to navigate. O:\Assessment\2018-2019\Summer\SUMMER TERM DATA.
- PUPIL END OF YEAR TARGETS Please note that SIMS has been updated with targets for reading, writing and maths for pupils in Y1-6 in the appropriate marksheet. These will be placed on the tracking grids at the end of Autumn term. Any questions, please speak to MK.
- R BYRNE You may have heard that Becky will unfortunately not be returning to Parkfield after her maternity leave. As a result, a TA1 position will be advertised within the next week on the Greater Manchester Jobs website. A leaving collection is kindly in the hands of Mrs Mullane and we will officially say goodbye in an assembly in a couple of weeks time.
- PARENTS EVENING A reminder that parents evening is in a couple of weeks. Parents will be signing up to the evening from Monday morning in the foyer.
- SAVE THE DATE On Friday 11th October at 6:30pm, the PTFA will be holding a family race night - support from staff would be much appreciated.
- PARKFIELD DIG DAY Saturday 5th October 11am-3pm. Please bring friends/family and gardening tools. This is to clear the Friendship Garden ready for Forest School Learning.
- THOUGHT OF THE WEEK Children are like wet cement. What ever falls on them makes a big impression.

- STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings.
- THE PARKFIELD WAY Thanks for your input the other day on the 'Parkfield Pledge' from the 'Parkfield Way' document. - READING AGE TESTS Please input data onto SIMS - any issues please speak with GW.
- PICTURE NEWS A reminder that I will be downloading these every Friday and put them into O:\Curriculum - Picture News (Weekly).

- TEST PAPERS SENT HOME Can all classes, except Y2, send home tests once they have been completed and used for assessments/intervention/QLA purposes. There's no use in keeping tests afterward, but parents can use them to support their children .

- HUMMUS After confirmation with mum, staff are allowed humus but must wash their hands as it can be dangerous for the girl in Reception. We will be working with the school nurse around a risk assessment with Chinese Food.
- KS2 EMOTIONAL LITERACY QUESTIONNAIRES Results have been emailed out.
- CPOMS See KB if you need help logging in.
- NEW WEBSITE Our new school website went live this week - hopefully you'll like the refreshed design and the more streamlined organisation of the menus.
- IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS TO SIGN Every member of staff must sign to acknowledge that you have received and read the documents sent this week. Remember to pass your pecuniary interest declaration forms to KB (if nothing, just write N/A across the table).
- SCHOOL COUNCIL / ECO TEAM ELECTIONS will be taking place in just over a week's time...
- ENCRYPTING EMAILS A reminder that you can encrypt emails that contain GDPR-sensitive content by simply typing in ENCRYPT somewhere in an email's subject.
- GOOGLE CALENDARS We have five different calendars: Parkfield, Staff Info, PPA, Assembly Themes and Staff Development. You can add these to your own Google Calendar by just clicking the '+ Google Calendar' icon on the different calendars embedded into this bulletin.
- IT EQUIPMENT Edit have been in over summer and updated lots of computers to Windows 10. Please remember to fill in the form detailing any equipment you have and pass it to KB - serial numbers of laptops can be found underneath them whilst on iPads they're on the back (or you can go to Settings > General > About which shows it a lot bigger).
Inclusion
- A new 'intimate care' policy has been written recently and is available on the staff drive.
- If you have any concerns regarding IEP's please speak to Gemma asap.
Health and Safety
- LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
- Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Safeguarding
- Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
- If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
- Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
- Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a yellow pass.
Pupil Voice
- TURTLE COMPETITION The eco council will continue monitoring the class bins for recycling. A class each will be announced as a winner with the class in the lead at the end of the each half term will get a whole class reward.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Complete this online form to request time to for subject leadership. Marc or Gemma will respond to any requests.
Link for logging incidents on CPOMS. If it's urgent - see Jane (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Gemma (Deputy DSL) immediately. If they're not available please see MK.

✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Library days: Mon – 5/6, Tues – 3/4, Weds – 1/2, Thurs – R.
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
✅ Spellings should be: differentiated, linked to the writing genre if possible and taught using meaningful / fun activities.
✅ Please keep on top of marking - especially cross curricular which should also follow the marking policy.
