THANK YOU AGAIN to all those that have covered for absent colleagues over the past week. It is really appreciated and proves what a fabulous team we have at Parkfield.
Y5 SWIMMING begins next Friday for 10 weeks. Y5's swimming lesson is 1-2pm. As a result:
Y5 will be the first class to go for dinner at 11.45am. Followed by Reception.
Y5's will have to stay in the hall until 12pm. At 12pm they can then go outside for their dinner.
Y5 will set off to swimming at approx. 12.30pm with RA, LD and CR.
There'll be a few changes to dinner time staffing (due to LD and CR attending swimming).
PARENT'S EVENING information will be emailed out next week to parents. Again, it will be via a video link as I don't believe it's safe enough to have lots of unmasked parents in the school building. We don't need any more staff absences! Parent's Evening is due to take place on Wednesday 9th February and will be from 3.45 - 7.00pm.
BEHAVIOUR REPORTING It is vital that all yellow and red cards are recorded on SIMS. This is used to monitor behaviour at the school and procides evidence for governors and OFSTED about the behaviour and attitude of pupils at Parkfield. Do not forget to report and please ask if you need reminding on how to update.
CPOMS CPOMS isn't used just to report safeguarding incidents but provides school with a useful tool to track communication. This s a reminder that CPOMS is to be used for record conversations with parents that may be of some concern or may require a follow up in future. There is a tick box for 'SEN' and 'Parent communication'.
TEACHER DROP INS For the remainder of the term, we would like teachers to drop in on each other's maths lessons. Like previous, it only needs to be a short dropin but with an agreed focus. Please arrange it between yourselves and feedback is to be given on the staff drop in form (link found at the bottom of this bulletin)
MUSIC TEAM TEACH Carolyn Hartley will be organising Music Team Teach sessions over the next few weeks for those that deliver music lessons. The idea is to share good practice and raise standards in music. CH will contact those involved.
NATIONAL COLLEGE You have all been emailed about Fire Safety Training. All staff must complete this before the end of this half term. All staff should have also now completed PREVENT and FIRST AID training.
STAFF MEETING next week will be looking at Geography - led by Lindsay Gooding
FRIDAY FORUM will be looking a Science flick led by Louise. Bring a Science book along
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
RETRIEVAL PRACTICE WEBSITE Some interesting research papers and practical guidance can be found here: https://www.retrievalpractice.org/library
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings. All flipcharts shown in staff meetings are also saved on the staff drive here: O:\Staff - Meetings\Flipcharts and Resources for Staff Meetings
STAFF CPD, MEETINGS, MONITORING..ETC Spring term has been updated and can be found on the usual link below and here: https://parkfieldprimary-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/mkemp_parkfield_rochdale_sch_uk/EZTDcHecvX5Kud9HcZXVpg0BGDLeDWSBi4K4KvOJKnYA3A?e=bfdzuI
TWITTER Please continue to tweet - it's great showing off all the wonderful work taking place across the school.
Y4 POSITION ONLINE Louise's position due to maternity leave has now been advertised. If you know any great teachers - please let them know! https://www.greater.jobs/search-and-apply/job-details/RO-57103/
REMOTE LEARNING If any of your pupils are isolating, please remember to set work on Showbie for them. Although it's not an expectation, it's been great to see some teachers delivering lessons via zoom to those at home. This is obviously easier for some classes than others.
REMINDER: GEMMA WHALEN In the new year Gemma will be our Y6 teacher and as a result many of her roles will be delegated to either Marc or Jane. Gemma's priority will be Year 6. As a result, we're going to try and implement the following to keep Y6 running as smoothly as possible:
Do not disturb Gemma whilst in class with SEND related issues. See Jane/Marc or email Gemma if it's not urgent.
Gemma will continue as the named DSL but Jane and then Marc will be completing the work for that role. Please go to Gemma as a last resort.
Gemma will not be available for ad-hoc meetings with parents. Any meetings neccessary will be booked for after school.
Gemma will continue with English subject leader management time one morning a week to ensure that the subject continues to be developed effectively.
Be aware that Gemma will be spending her time before school setting up lessons. Unless urgent, speak to Marc or Jane or send an email.
Staff to open KS1/2 door - GW won't be there to open up in the mornings
Monday assemblies will be lead predominantly by MK
WHITE ROSE HUB DIGITAL RESOURCES Please check out these interactive resources that WRH have created https://whiterosemaths.com/digital-tools/ .
LFD TESTING Please continue to take the tests and submit your results to https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result . Karen Slatford needs to know about any tests that come back as inconclusive.
COURSE FEEDBACK A reminder for all staff that if you attend a course (even via zoom) please can you complete the online form feeding back on how useful the course was. This is our way at school of tracking the impact of any training attended and also highlights what may need sharing with other staff in the school. The link is below but can also be found as a button near the bottom of every bulletin. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAJYp2DQ8_3IF4CbUroJyoboOayyqBkiFv_BsFl3PWQQmQmA/viewform?usp=sf_link
LADDERS Putting up a display? Please make sure you’re using ladders and not chairs and tables.
Seen anything of a CONCERN? Please fill in the appropriate form in the staff room and hand in to the office as soon as possible.
Use CPOMS to record anything that is of a concern. However, if you feel it's significant and needs to be dealt with asap, please speak to Jane or Gemma.
If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
Keep completing these online forms to feedback on courses, trips, visits and drop ins. This includes visits to other schools, collaborative groups…etc. It helps us keep an impact on any CPD that takes place.
Mrs Whalen (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Miss Steele (Deputy DSL)
If they're not available please see Mr Kemp.
✅ Review, review and review learning throughout a lesson. Keep referring back to LI and SC and how well they’re doing.
✅ Can’t think of something to write when feeding back?? Remember: QUESTION-ACTION-CHALLENGE
✅ Now Try…Explain why…are two great sentence starters (particularly for Maths) when feeding back.
✅ Plan time for pupils to respond to feedback – make sure you demonstrate this .
