THANK YOU to all staff over the past couple of weeks that have had to cover at some point due to staff absence. We really do appreciate the hard work and dedication of all staff at this difficult time.
DISCIPLINARY POLICY AND PRECEDURE - VARIATION TO CONTRACT Before half term all employees for the LA were issued with a letter detailing some changes to the policy mentioned above. Following the consultation period the LA has decided to implement the changes as advised in the letter. As a result, you will all again receive a letter and some documents relating to 'voluntary acceptance'. If you decide to agree, you will have to sign and return a letter to the school office before 4th December 2020. Letters will be handed out at Parkfield and across the LA next Wednesday 18th November.
TEACHING ASSISTANT APPRAISALS TA appraisals are going to be completed over the next month. The idea is to review last years targets - which may not have been met due to covid - which is fine. Targets will also be set for the coming year. This year, some teachers will be taking responsibility for the appraisals of TAs within their classes and they'll arrange a time to conduct the meeting. MK, GW or JS will be conducting the other appraisals. The meetings need no preparation and should last for no longer than 20 minutes.
TWILIGHTS We have 2 twilight sessions coming up after Christmas. Save the dates: Tuesday 12th January and Monday 18th January. Both dates are from 3.30 - 5.30pm and will be via zoom. The sessions are going to specifically for subject leaders. As a result not all staff are requied to attend. A separate email will be sent with further details. For info, this means that all 5 INSET days for this year are complete.
REMEMBER, REMEMBER DAY Thank you for all your hard work and planning into the day.
SHOWBIE Please keep logging on and feeding back to the pupils that are at home self isolating completing work.
CORAM LESSONS Please start the week (Monday or Tuesday) with a SCARF lesson 'My Scarf/Subjects and Issues/ Bullying' Here are my suggestions - but feel free to adapt... Year 1: Unkind, tease or bully? Year 2: Types of bullying Year 3: Let's celebrate our differences Year 4: Under pressure Year 5: How good a friend are you? Year 6: OK to be different . During the rest of the week, please could each class over the course of the week produce an 'in your face' toe 'STOP' poster which incorporates 'SEVERAL TIMES ON PURPOSE' motto and/or a reference to protected characteristics. This could be a large collage that the class contribute to/using ICT/ using art media/3d styles/patchwork. Be as creative as you wish, but please try and stay away from the traditional style poster of a felt-tip stick man picture of someone being mean to someone else on A4 white paper. We would then like to display these around school. (One per class). (Reception: story- about families) to celebrate difference. I'll also send an email with some ideas :)
MATHS PUPIL DISCUSSIONS took place today because MK and GP wanted to get a clear picture of how coverage was going across the school linked to white rose hub scheme. They'll feedback asap.
MONITORING/STAFF AND SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT Over the next 12 months there is likely to be a high number of occasions when monitoring activities will take place. This is because of the increased responsibilities of subject leaders and due to the changes in the OFSTED framework. At times, monitoring can feel like people are trying to 'catch you out' and it can feel like a negative experience. We don't want people to feel like this at Parkfield. Please note that the purpose of monitoring is to identify strengths across the school and have evidence to prove that initiatives in place are working. Secondly, it's for identifying areas for development and seeing how we can improve.
IEPs are due within the next week please. If you need any help just see Gemma or Jane.
PE CHALLENGE it's in the hall!
EXTRA PE LESSONS please carry these out and have fun :)
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK If you take the team out of team work, then it's just work. Now who wants that? Matthew Woodring Stover.
CURRICULUM SITE Have a read of the updated curriculum website. It's been updated considerably over the past couple of months. https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home
STAFF DEVELOPMENT There is a shortcut on staff desktops so you can easily review the minutes of staff meetings.

If you see someone in school that you don't know - without a pass - please challenge them and ask them who they are!
Make sure you're always wearing a pass!
Remind children that staff have a blue pass and visitors have a sticker.
